Without looking up the specs and just by looking at your pic, it looks like a typical edge lit led panel. Bleeding around the edges is common with them and not worth worrying about in my opinion.

I still can't decide on touch or type cover. I am leaning towards type, but not enough to make a purchase yet.

Just for kicks I ran two benchmarks on my Surface Pro 128gb. On PCMark 7 my SP scored a 4,623. On the Peacekeeper browser test with IE 10 it scored a 1,993. Next I'm going to run these benchmarks on my Sony Laptop with a first gen i7 to see how it compares.

It seems like Windows 8.1 is just like a Service Pack to me and waiting for the official release will not require a reinstalling all your stuff. Preview builds always require reinstalling the official version, when it's finally released, from scratch. I think I am gonna wait it out.
