The one I am talking about is the 128GB SSD model. The 256GB model that may have the Samsung SSD did not have the same slow write speeds as the 128GB SSD.

Then that just might be the SP3. I turn mine off when on battery power so that it doesn't continue to use that battery power. Last time I left it on battery power and hit the sleep option. Woke up and 10% had been used up. Sure that's not a whole lot but I didn't need it to be doing anything...

Same. It's another one of those things that I have just never noticed.

If it's plugged in, I just close the cover. On battery power, I power it off. The boot up time on this thing is just seconds so it's nothing to have to turn it on.

I found this page. Downloaded the free app hotkey and then on that page is a file you download and click. It loads thousands of words that it will now spell check. You can easily edit it to add more words too. Seems to be working on one of the sites that the built in spell checker didn't...

No, just the installed one for the United States. The spell check also does not work while using the keyboard while attached. This is just on some sites, not all. I think it has to do with the editor that these sites use. I never have the problem on vBulletin or Xenforo sites.

I've noticed this annoying thing while trying the same sites on my Mac using Safari. Guess there is nothing I can really do.

I have noticed that on several sites that I go to including a few that I run myself, spelling mistakes aren't underlined or corrected even though I have these settings turned on. This happens in both desktop IE and modern. It's also the same with either the type cover or onscreen keyboards...

Happy that it helped. I prefer the desktop version of IE over the modern version.

Sounds like you got a bad Mac, plain and simple. Your experience is not common by any means.

Get it replaced but what happens if the replacement has the Samsung SSD in it as well?

Sure they haven't specified the minimum SSD specs that are included but it's not fair for someone to get a slow Samsung SSD when someone who buys one right after me, gets the fast SSD. If we're buying the same exact I5128GB, performance should be the same.
