No availabilty because of popularity or problems

That would be a real blow to the thousands of Nokia staff that Microsoft have just acquired (unless you mean that they pull out of the hardware space but continue mobile OS development)

No availabilty because of popularity or problems

Makes sense, if MS understock their most popular model and overstock their less popular - guess they're just not too good at predicting demand.

Any way to scroll using the pen?

Thanks, but that works for some desktop apps (windows explorer, control panel etc) but not for any 'interface formerly known as metro' apps such as mail, internet explorer (nor the desktop version of internet explorer). Seems like the desktop's using the old pen input paradigm which hasn't been...

Any way to scroll using the pen?

I suspect not, but is there any way of using the pen to scroll (other than using scrollbars) when in tablet mode using the pen? I know you can always use your fingers, but touch input is disabled when the pen is nearby so something like clicking the button to drag and scroll would be really...

No availabilty because of popularity or problems

I was looking earlier trying to find some breakdown of surface sales, where did you get this information? I would have thought that the 128GB was more popular as 8G is overkill for most people (says the man with the 512/8G). If you have a breakdown of sales that would be most interesting as I...

Germany still selling 4200U Surface Pros :(

You should have gone for the original 40" version, don't think it would have the 4300 though Old Microsoft Surface 1.0 tabletop is rebranded "PixelSense" - Jun. 19, 2012

Small Indescript Hardware Updates Every Three Days

The latest update was an update to windows update: A servicing stack update is available for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2. Doesn't sound like it fixes this issue though.

No availabilty because of popularity or problems

...seems they're slightly more in demand than when initially launched, when they sold only 90 in the UK: In the UK, Microsoft sold 124,000 Surfaces – up from 90 in 2012. You read that correctly: 90 Surfaces were sold in the whole of the UK in the fourth quarter of 2012. Apple and Android...

No availabilty because of popularity or problems

It was out of stock in the UK for a couple of weeks, but has been available again as of Monday. 512 not back yet though. I suspect both - reduced stock levels compared to the more popular lower spec versions, and possibly holding back stock in reserve due to the number of recent returns.

I have 2 Surfaces - I need to determine which is in the best condition asap

If you want to find out if one of the devices has gone through BSOD, maybe the event log would tell you. You should be able to tell if the machine has rebooted, and if there are boot related events when you've just been sleeping this might help identify the fact. Maybe the reliability index...

Okay seriously... what is up with the battery meter in Windows 8?

I'm sure they do, just thought this would be an interesting article for people to read when somebody posts an iPad vd Android vs Windows statement. Microsoft as we all know have a long legacy of desktop and enterprise behind them and are trying hard to close the gap between themselves and their...

Tricky getting my SP2 to turn on sometimes

...referring to your signature: 1. Microsoft issues many many updates. You probably haven't noticed many of the very important issues that they have fixed. 2. I'm sure they will eventually, they are aware of issues and have customers from enterprise down to the likes of you and me. Sure they...

Surface Pro 2 1.9 CPU Lot Numbers

Filled in the online service request on Wednesday afternoon as my screen started clicking/creaking and the device is still dodgy after the firmware update. Received shipment notification on Thursday and the replacement turned up this morning (Friday), in seemingly perfect condition, and upgraded...

Dual Boot Two Separate Win 8.1 Environments On 512GB Pro 2

Well spotted, things are never as easy as they should be! There is a possible workaround by modifying the boot signature, might be useful if somebody does want to try this: Disk2vhd and native boot ? Or how to capture and use an OS snapshot - Mike Ormond's Blog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

    Chrome and Windows 8 Mode

I've got my display set to 1920x1080 and now have the Windows 8 mode option available (I hadn't used to). Not sure what's changed, because between it not working and now I've installed the Intel graphics drivers and fiddled with DPI scaling and a few other settings. Weird how it's now just...

Incipio "capture" and "feather" cases for Surface

Mine arrived today as well. Had to really push the kickstand in to get it to click into place, and it ended up bowed so unclipped the kickstand cover (now doesn't fold flat). Foam on mine too. Kickstand doesn't like kicking back to the second position with the cover on either. I see what you...

Dual Boot Two Separate Win 8.1 Environments On 512GB Pro 2

Consider using Disk2VHD (Disk2vhd) to create your system image from your existing OS install, so you won't need to worry about installing a new OS and drivers. If you really want a fresh install, other tools like Wim2VHD are available for imaging a VHD, as you can't 'install' to them the normal...

    4gb vs 8gb VRAM

My 8G SP2 reports 1792M - maybe somebody can post the result for 4G (get this from screen resolution->advanced settings from right clicking the desktop) This matches with the maximum allowed, as specified by Intel: Graphics — Graphics Memory FAQ for Microsoft Windows 8* Note that this is...
