Disabling the charm tool bar (on the right side)

If it's the charms bar annoying you when you move the mouse to the corner, you can disable this in the registry by modifying the DisableTRCorner key in the registry (...TLCorner if you want to get rid of the applications list)...

    Freedomcase is Here

Well, I've found that I can fold the touch keyboard back, but find that the type cover pops out (both normal and reversed). Mine's the leather version, maybe that's thicker than the polyurethane version? One gripe I have is trying to use it in tablet mode. Other than the pen flapping about...

    Freedomcase is Here

I got a shipping notification 4 days ago. I think this was the case for international backers. I believe that the latest update said that the ship date date for American backers is the 20th.

    Freedomcase is Here

Yay! Mine arrived a couple of hours ago too. Think it might take a few more hours to become proficient at switching between the various angles, but liking it so far (makes the device much more lapable) - Wife has already told me to quit flipping that damn thing :-) A little loose when folded...

Browser lag when viewing YouTube and Gmail

Try setting up a tracking protection list in IE (see Internet Explorer Gallery and Internet Explorer Gallery) - this resolved my refresh problems, which I think was related to the sites contacting 3rd parties for ads etc...

Spotting a Surface in the wild...

kristalsoldier, I think the answer to this is purely marketing - Microsoft is trying very hard to push their 'intelligent systems' to businesses (Microsoft?s Intelligent Systems), and when this was originally conceived it was much quicker and easier to push a windows embedded image into a pro...

    constant on and off

Second what benjitek said, hibernate 5 times a day won't kill your SSD (it's a linear write anyway, which is nice to the media)

Current status of Linux on surface PRO

I don't think so. Some people were discussing it the thread linked below but don't know if they got anywhere. Unless your guest OS has native support for the VHD format (and NTFS support so it can read the VHD file in the first place) in the bootloader and kernel then you will run into...

Stephen Elop Will be Put in Charge of Xbox Gaming Division, Surface & Windows Phone

Maybe because he was Ballmer's trojan horse at Nokia with the sole intention of reducing the company to a state where a Microsoft takeover was inevitable. And received a healthy 15 million bonus, plus the current role as a result? I don't necessarily buy into the conspiracy theories, but look...

Microsoft OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) - Free 100GB if you login soon...

Precisely my situation. Was paying 4.99 a month for 100 GDrive storage. Now making a substantial saving after transferring all my data (took a while but pretty painless) ...200GB for 2 years makes it particularly attractive :-)

Stephen Elop Will be Put in Charge of Xbox Gaming Division, Surface & Windows Phone

If you compare the design of the N9 (based on the disbanded Meego OS, designed before Elop came along) and Lumina, you'll probably notice a striking similarity. This was beautiful Nokia design, not Microsoft design. So they weren't completely clueless :-) Anyway, didn't mean for my comments...

Stephen Elop Will be Put in Charge of Xbox Gaming Division, Surface & Windows Phone

Given my past experience (he took over as CEO of my old company before he ditched our OS and moved Nokia onto the path to Windows, making me redundant in the process), then nothing would surprise me. Not at all surprised that he's become head of devices given his recent Nokia stint, although...

    Finally...128GB micro sd

It 'should' work (particularly if it comes from Microsoft as they had a large role to play in the standardisation of SDXC). Support for large capacity cards involves a few aspects: 1. The underlying host controller and device driver should support 512 Byte Block addressing (which has...

Opinions on Surface 2 and use while Charging

Sorry, thought you asked for thoughts on the matter. Specifically answering your question, you appear to be asking if it's ok to run down your battery while plugged into your TV, then connecting power to recharge it when it's about to die (you currently stop using it and switch to a laptop out...
