the SP3 is stupidly finicky about what flash drives it will successfully boot from. There is a slim chance that your USB recovery image is corrupted (i had that) so start afresh and download the factory recovery image from microsoft support and follow the instructions on getting it onto a USB...

what an ingenious way to get lots of conductive metal filings inside the innards, right next to the motherboard. Its also a great way to cut your hand on jagged edged metal every time you pick it up with the stand open.

Most macs have terrible colour accuracy out of the box.. problem is, people get used to the terribleness and then when the compare it to a well calibrated screen dont like the calibrated screen over the terribleness of apple displays

So Mr Particulate expert... what is your take on applying a layer of non abrasive car wax (high grade carnauba without micro polishing particulates) on the screen? can that help prevent particulate buildup and scratches? i know someone who does this on his iPad and it hasnt seemed to damage...

i really dont understand some users panic over normal computer functions. there were over 40 security patches released for 8.1 (not just for the SP3) which cause fundamental changes to the operating system. These changes can take a long time to complete. If it didnt complete at full speed...
