I don't have experience with i7 model but I'm very happy with i5. For what you want to do, i5 should be fine. Get the i5 with 8/256. You will be happy.

I'm not so picky about the sound coming out of my tablet but I can see how others might be. How about installing this EQ program? I haven't done it as I am OK with the sound from my SP3 but others might find it useful...

Surface has 1 year warranty. If you are still under warranty, why not ask them to repair/replace it? I would.

Some others in another thread reported today's update causes SP3 to run hotter. I'm going to wait before I install these updates as I don't like frying my egg on SP3. o_O

If you are looking to do "purely" tablet things (browsing, emailing, some games, etc), then SP3 is an overkill. If that's your use case, then perhaps an iPad is a better choice. As far as SP3 running warm with fan on, I've noticed it does that once in a while if: 1) I play games. 2) Windows...

Phantom does offer life time warranty so if it doesn't work out for you then you can always get a replacement (but not refund, I believe). For me, I wish I didn't waste my money on it. :(

No problem. I was very disappointed with the inconsistent touch behavior. I don't take my SP3 outside much so I may just keep it "naked". I'm pretty careful with my devices and I'm the only one using it so I should be OK.

I don't really upload any videos to Dailymotion. I do use that site because it has a lot of Korean drama videos. I wonder if Roku let's you add a website to stream video from or do you have to use those pre-loaded websites only?

I use Chromecast but since I don't want to run Chrome on my SP3 (due to excessive battery drain), I want to use Miracast/Widi connection so I can mirror or extend my SP3 screen to my TV. Can anyone recommend a device that works well with SP3? Of course, at a reasonable price. :) Thanks!

When nothing is running, do you noticed your CPU AND Disk usage drop to 0%? On my i5, when nothing is running, both CPU and Disk drops to 0, which is normal. If your CPU and/or Disk does not drop to 0 even though you aren't running anything, something is not right and that would explain the...
