Which Metro YouTube App did you choose?

I simply use the web version on my SP3, but on my Lumia 1520 Metrotube BY FAR.

    Heat - back right corner

I'm not so sure it's Intel's fault either. There are plenty of the exact same games that run on android and iOS that run exponentially hotter on Windows ModernUI. My first instinct is to suspect how modern apps are programmed on and run by Windows. When it gets to this level, I am...

    Heat - back right corner

Or maybe people read into it more than intended, but I DEFINITELY agree: MS made the mistake of calling out Apple on a hardware to hardware comparison, and completely overlooked the main selling point of Apple products: the Ecosystem. As for gaming between the two, I'll just mention openGL vs...

    i7 benchmarks & tests

Honestly? I suspect it's internal firmware settings and fan profiles... unless these are some ungodly binned i7's. I just can't see them using different cooling solutions for the i7 vs the i5. It complicates mass fabrication and raises the price [having to have extra piecesfabricated]. Of...

    Heat - back right corner

You missed *MY* point: If you're struggling to play a certain game or games on your device and you have to stoop to these levels to make it playable. . you should have purchased a device designed to actually RUN these types of programs. I guess I just can't imagine anyone that wants to run...

Pro 3 Not for Google Users

I realize Windows mail isn't the greatest app in the world. . .but it DOES natively support gmail accounts. And for the O/P, the latest editions of chrome stay running even when the browser is closed [with permission] to transmit your hangouts/G+, etc. I can't help with three separate hangout...

    Undervolt?

/sigh. . . 100c is tJunction. tJunction is thermal shutdown temperature. Undervolting may help you run at max clocks longer, but in the end you're still going to be pushing 70c +. Well within the SP3 thermal spec, but still what the non technical crowd would call "serious heat".

Pro 3 Not for Google Users

Yea, until they replace the windows store with Google Play store, you're essentially out of luck. Whether or not that actually happens is mostly based on Microsoft's short sightedness [they want to cash in on their own ecosystem, naturally] but I have read they've tossed the idea around. The...

    Heat - back right corner

Yea, but who is going to do this consistently in a real world situation? Ok, you can boost benchmark scores, but are you really going to carry all this stuff with you to squeeze out say 3-5 FPS in diablo 3 when you're out of town on business? Again, don't get me wrong. . I'm a computer...

Thermal Imaging "map" of i7-based Surface Pro 3

For the record, tJmax [thermal shutdown temperature] is 100c. . .or 212 F. 72c, which is where the i5 SP3 tends to sit. . is 161.6f. 113f is only 45c, or idle temperature

    Heat - back right corner

Alright, after some issues with pages 42 and 43, I've seen what you're talking about. I'll see if I can replicate the results when I have time. I still doubt those changes would make much of a dent in 3dmark scores, and you're probably only talking 2-5 FPS real world in gaming. . . but I'm...

Links to page 15 of a 65 page forum topic. I looked though page 15, and saw no mention of this fan . . "solution". If I somehow glanced over it, I'm sorry. It would be helpful if you could copy/paste the post along with the link, as well as copy paste all relevant temp monitoring data...

Proof? With the relatively small size of the ventilation holes on the SP3, I am HIGHLY skeptical on this one.

    Heat - back right corner

Under load for extended amounts of time, the SP3 will throttle itself. It'll eventually even out at "moderately warm" It's well within the SP3 operating temperature range and is nothing to worry about.

    Purpose of the SP3 forum?

Honestly the only reason I care is because I'm sick of being passively aggressively told I should be buying a computer for an ecosystem I am not entrenched in [in this case OS X] If you read a lot of the complainer's posts, they read like something off the macrumor forums. . . and there is a...

Heat, Battery, and the coming i3

Heat is really a subjective thing on these. . .it's not so much the device as the USER. Best ackronym EVER: PEBKAC [problem exists between keyboard and chair] Which means you have to take every review with a grain of salt, ESPECIALLY the nasty negative ones. You don't know if they decided...

Has the surface totally replaced your tablet?

Well, since you asked. . . The answer is. . Kinda sorta. There are still moments where I find myself reaching for my Nexus 7 vs the SP3. GPS comes to mind rather quickly, as well as the notifications/recommendations part of Android. I'd also rather reach for my android for ultra casual...

Just an update, I went into msconfig and disabled java updater on startup. Since then and several reboots later, the issue has not rematerialized.
