I'm on a SB 2, GTX 1060 6gb model. Specifically fortnite keeps crashing with the error: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED I'm on the nvidia driver 397.93

I tried playing fortnite on my SB2 with the 1060.... every other game crashes with the error: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED I'm guessing it means the surface book is (for no good reason) disabling the 1060 mid-game which causes the game to crash.

as an update to the above: I ended up reverting the update and fortnite no longer drops frames. It was weird. The game played fine for 10 seconds and then I got 1fps for 3 seconds, then fine for another 10 seconds then 1fps for 3 seconds and so on. Definitely reverting the windows update fixed...

In windows update I cannot see 1803, only 1709. I guess I can go on the insider thing and get it there.

I don't think it's fair to say linux is bad because it doesn't let me update the firmware on my surface. The ability to update firmware is going to vary from device to device and Microsoft is running a lot of proprietary code and intentionally makes it difficult for open solutions to flashing...
