games crash due to graphics card disconnecting mid game? DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED

I'm on a SB 2, GTX 1060 6gb model. Specifically fortnite keeps crashing with the error: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED I'm on the nvidia driver 397.93

Anyone play Fortnite on your SB/SB2?

I tried playing fortnite on my SB2 with the 1060.... every other game crashes with the error: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED I'm guessing it means the surface book is (for no good reason) disabling the 1060 mid-game which causes the game to crash.

    Like a fool, I updated now my SB2 15 inch doesn't have a dGPU

as an update to the above: I ended up reverting the update and fortnite no longer drops frames. It was weird. The game played fine for 10 seconds and then I got 1fps for 3 seconds, then fine for another 10 seconds then 1fps for 3 seconds and so on. Definitely reverting the windows update fixed...

    Like a fool, I updated now my SB2 15 inch doesn't have a dGPU

Alright.... I got the graphics card being detected again (in fortnite I see activity on GPU 1) but I'm getting massive frame drops every 10 seconds or so. I have the official nvidia driver from microsoft and I'm attempting to install 397.31 from nvidia experience but it keeps saying...

I just got it. I'm having the same problem with the 1060 not being recognized too. GDI Microsoft.

    Like a fool, I updated now my SB2 15 inch doesn't have a dGPU

In windows update I cannot see 1803, only 1709. I guess I can go on the insider thing and get it there.

    Like a fool, I updated now my SB2 15 inch doesn't have a dGPU

so do you guys think it's worth updating to the creators update then or should I wait for the Gpu bug to be fixed? I suppose it doesn't matter much anyway since I don't see the update yet but I was thinking about hunting it down manually and giving it a try.

Anyone else ever get a BSOD with the reason: driver_unloaded_without_canceling

I'm running whichever ones came with the SB2 for the 1060.

Anyone else ever get a BSOD with the reason: driver_unloaded_without_canceling

I got the BSOD about 10 minutes after detaching and re-attaching my clipboard on my SB2. I did so because for some reason it wasn't detecting the keyboard's battery. It does that randomly and usually re-attaching fixes it. It fixed it this time too... apart from the BSOD 10 minutes later. There...

    new SB2 - doesn't sleep

I have a brand new SB2 here, fully updated. For whatever reason when I put it to sleep (or close the lid) it just keeps on running. For example yesterday night I put it to sleep, woke up and it was hot.... this was alarming because it was in clamshell (screen closed) mode all night so the...

Back to the bad old days of SP4

This just sounds like the typical set of problems I always face with Windows.

only 4 hours of battery EVEN WHEN I optimize for battery

good theory - Over the weekend I'll download the ISO from microsoft for W10 pro and install that way. It should self activate, right?

    Intel slowdown

I don't think it's fair to say linux is bad because it doesn't let me update the firmware on my surface. The ability to update firmware is going to vary from device to device and Microsoft is running a lot of proprietary code and intentionally makes it difficult for open solutions to flashing...

    Intel slowdown

When I turned my Surface on the other day it just got stuck in a boot loop. I guess this update ^ might be why. In any case, I'm fed up now with Windows. Every few months it seems like one update or another screws up my device and I have to start over. I installed Linux Mint and ironically it...

Does anyone have a screen flickering issue?

Apart from all the software issues I've had with Windows and my Surface(s) I've never had any hardware failures yet with the SP4, but I guess a lot of people are having this issue: We are 1600+ customers who lost $2.5+ Millions due to faulty/defective Microsoft Surface Pro 4 devices Why...

only 4 hours of battery EVEN WHEN I optimize for battery

maybe somehow the thing killing me is that I'm browsing webpages? I remember getting 8+ hours of battery in lectures too, but then I was just in onenote and it was sleeping a lot of the time. In any case the ARM based windows tablets cant come soon enough. The prospect of 20 hour battery life...

only 4 hours of battery EVEN WHEN I optimize for battery

The final battery life I got from it was 3.5 hours :( I installed Linux Mint on it today to see what battery life is in that (maybe there's a problem with my device?). So we'll see. What sort of battery life do you get from your SP4?

only 4 hours of battery EVEN WHEN I optimize for battery

I'm home now so once it's fully charged I'll give it another go and see if I can determine if it was the bad WIFI signal that killed me or if it was ublock. I guess worst case I can re-install windows.

only 4 hours of battery EVEN WHEN I optimize for battery

I don't use flash in edge and for extensions the only one I run is ublock origin. Maybe that's the culprit? I was thinking that would save me battery though (by blocking interactive ads). As for the wireless thing I was at a coffee shop so I guess their wifi must've sucked. Would that've been...
