Fast MicroSD ok for Photoshop Lightroom work ?

Hi guys Thinking of getting a 64gb Samsung Pro MicroSD (the newer 90/80 read write version). Does anybody have experience storing and editing photos using Lightroom (or similar) on a MicroSD card - is the performance decent ? Naturally the SSD drive is still much faster. From a workflow...

Type Cover backlight auto dim ?

Hi all I notice that the backlighting on the new SP3 type cover autodims when left alone for a short period of inactivity - even whilst say, reading a webpage, it will dim before your eyes. This appears to be a non-user configurable setting, even when plugged into AC power. Is this normal...

What is your average battery life on your SP3?

I can't go down to 38% brightness, just a bit low for my eyes. Have settled for around 45% and get somewhere in the region of 8 hours. I find the brightness has a massive impact on battery life. I usually have several Office 2013 apps open, Outlook, Powerpoint, OneNote, Nextgen reader, IE11...

While waiting for sp4 or ? I discovered wacom fineline stylus that works well with iPad

I've seen the demo videos - pen still seems to have (for me at least) visible lag to input, which is something I cannot get used to.

    Competition from Dell?

TN Panel ... hell no. #Pass. No word on the stylus tech employed either. However, bodes well for what lies ahead once the SP4 emerges.

    Improving SSD performance

Thanks ctitanic - the steps you outlined in this thread worked for me with the excellent before and after results. Any idea how long this lasts / how often it needs to be done ? Here's hoping for a firmware update for the drive itself. I recall my OCZ Vertex 3 had so many issues with its...

Drawboard PDF - Issues and Resolutions

I have exactly the same problems as you have described in 1) through 3). It is frustrating and detracts from what is otherwise a really good PDF annotation app. I'm alternating between the built-in reader app and Drawboard depending on my level of irritation.

MS Sculpt Comfort BT mouse + Bose Soundlink Mini issue

Hi All I've been using my MS Scuplt Comfort BT mouse since I got my SP3 weeks back, without any issues whatsoever. No disconnects, smooth as butter. Cue yesterday when I purchased a Bose Soundlink Mini Bluetooth speaker. While the speaker paired and works flawlessly, now the mouse is prone to...

    Improving SSD performance

Something does seem off. I noticed improved performance turning bitlocker off as in this SP3 SSD test video - but still get nowhere close to the write speeds (granted I suspect the 256gb SSD is faster in this area):

Solved powercfg Battery Report missing Usage history, etc

Same issue here - after full reset there is a first entry 1 day ahead of the refresh date ! somehow it went into the future then back again, and now, no estimate or detailed info at the end of the report in the last 3 sections. What an annoying bug !

    reset battery report stats

Seems like my exact problem and solution are reported on the forum here: http://www.surfaceforums.net/threads/powercfg-battery-report-missing-usage-history-etc.11946/

    reset battery report stats

I also did a full OS install from recovery image on Monday evening, since then my report is blank at the "Usage History" and "estimate" sections at the end of the report, everything else above is there. Weird - any ideas ?

Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro (Core M) performance tests reveal throttling, fan noise!

Agreed. Just makes me Crazy. Lenovo engineers maybe lost the plot on this one.

Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro (Core M) performance tests reveal throttling, fan noise!

You are aware that the Haswell i7 Y series is a dual core part, ultra low voltage and compares with and is bested by, in most cases, the Haswell i5 U series in the Surface Pro 3 ? Hardly an unfair comparison. In fact, very similar including TDP output. In Intel's recent launch of Core M...

Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro (Core M) performance tests reveal throttling, fan noise!

So it would appear that the Broadwell Core M 5Y70 (highest performing part number) is a step backwards and still needs a fan. Even then, there is significant throttling making the Yoga 3 Pro perform worse than it's previous siblings. In this test - the SP3 i5 outperforms it by around 50%. So...
