Hello from a (nearly former) Mac user

I went from having a mac a couple of years ago - which was my first mac because the media company I was working for switched from Dell/Windows to Mac/OSX. Actually a few of our devs left because they were not happy at all about the switch to Apple. Anyway, when we were doing the training, an...

Great experience with MS Online Support!

Finally have a replacement! And even better, I seem to be very lucky. They have given me a brand new i5 256GB with 8GB RAM instead of my i5 128GB with 4GB RAM by mistake. Am not complaining. That store has very bad customer service though so I do not feel bad.

Has Chrome just been optimised far better?

Everything is appearing larger and generally easier to see and touch on my Surface. I did just re-install Chrome, maybe it's an update. Or am I imagining things?

Is this a case of false advertisement?

What I understood from the OP's situation is that they paid the $229 for the basic cover and saw the $49 price for deductible. Only when the OP went to make a claim for breaking his SP3 was the new charge of $100 shown at the checkout stage - so he had already paid for the cover of $229...

Great experience with MS Online Support!

We don't have MS stores in NZ either so was surprised he offered the UPS pickup. I'm going into the store tomorrow to see of the email from MS suffices. Hopefully I'll have good news :)

Great experience with MS Online Support!

Just finished an online chat with MS regarding my loud fan and they have exceeded my expectations. I took the SP3 to the store today and they were pushing back on me, so thought I would try MS. The assistant offered to send UPS to come and pick up my SP3 and then when it is received, they...

    Drilling sound on SP3

Took it to the store and unbelievably it didn't make the sound (!!!!!). I was so frustrated but she says they have to take it on to test. Anyone know how I can manually increase heat of the cpu? Usually opening child of light would do it, but not happening.

    installing 8.1 on SAT help

Yeah you're right - that would involve me signing up to yet another site - and generally I find the information on here very helpful, so wanted to see what others thought. Anyway, have now managed to do it. Installed Windows boot file on USB and went from there :) Just need to figure out how...

    Drilling sound on SP3

It does get hot, but to be honest it did before the noise and I assumed this was standard with the surface pro line - my pro 1 was ridiculous!

    Drilling sound on SP3

No oil struck yet! I am going to take it back to the retailer and am just arming myself with the consumer guarantees act over here. I am entitled to a replacement (and not just a repair) if my issue meets the following: a reasonable consumer wouldn’t have bought it if they had known it would...

Definitely the latter. It was very loud.

    Drilling sound on SP3

Thanks for the replies. Damn it's harder getting refunds/replacements in NZ than USA or UK - such a chore as they take it in to test it etc - leaving me computerless!

    Drilling sound on SP3

Thanks - if it's not sitting right, can that cause other faults? Is it dangerous?

    Drilling sound on SP3

I was using Chrome last night watching some youtube videos and my SP3 suddenly started making noises which were very peculiar. I can hear the fan sometimes and this definitely was not the same sound. It sounded like a low drilling sound and it only stopped when I locked the screen. Upon...
