8.1 Update 1 fixes tap and drag!!!

This is horrible. There's now a weird 500ms delay when you tap using the touchpad that is getting to my nerves. Example: in start screen, tap using touchscreen on any tile: it comes up instantly the moment you press it. Now tap on the same tile using the touchpad. You'll see it appears...

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

Note that the interrupt flood is being caused by ACPI SMI interrupts, according to LatencyMon (first post from this thread) and xperf. And in my opinion, this is caused by the ACPI AML interpreter getting stuck in a method that repeatedly causes a SMI interrupt to be fired. I still doubt it...

Using Logitech Ultrathin T630 Mouse with SP2

Indeed, nice arguments. Although by Apple-style click feedback I meant that the entire mouse "presses down" -- which I think the t630 does.

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

Well in this thread at least two of us now can replicate the issue as much as we want without any SD card plugged in. But if you really suspect the Realtek SD card reader drivers, why don't you just remove them as I mentioned above? I did that this morning, and as expected, the only thing...

Using Logitech Ultrathin T630 Mouse with SP2

Why did you find it better? I was trying to decide between the T630 and the Arc Touch SE just days ago ... (eventually decided to go for the Arc because I'm not really used to such low height and "Apple-style" clicking feedback).

Shocked at no wifi AC support

Marvell started shipping a 802.11ac USB Avastar not long ago, so I suspect the next generation of Surface will probably have .11ac.

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

I disagree. The manufacturer is clearly specified as Realtek Semiconductor Corp. in the USB device descriptors, which are independent from whatever driver is loaded. Also, if you suspect Realtek's driver, I reiterate that (IMO) all it does is just put the SD card icon on Explorer, because the...

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

I concur. I've reproduced it several times with no SD card whatsoever, and as mentioned, there's even a logical reasoning for why it can't actually be SD card related. As for audio, have you tried what I mentioned on the above post? Make a mental note for the next time it happens to you ;)...

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

Ok, today I was bitten again by The Issue, and I found the following: - After starting up, during the first few seconds after I could get into desktop an the task manager, the system was idling at 0-2%. A few seconds afterwards the problem manifested, getting 8% CPU usage in Interrupts. That...

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

Oh, I will test this the next time I notice the issue. I am not sure why it would be related to audio so maybe if I can reproduce that would give me a hint. On the other hand, I am going to elaborate. Basically, this issue cannot be related to the hardware SD card reader. The SD card reader is...

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

Since I've been started getting bit by the "30% idle CPU usage", I've started to try to diagnose the problem. The symptoms of this "issue" are more or less well-known and defined, from what I read on these forums: on some boots, the "System" plus the "System Interrupts" item on task manager...

stuck at uefi after firmware update.

The telemetry driver doesn't serve any purpose that I know of, it's just cosmetics/NSA. I suspect that "UEFI setup is shown at boot" is caused by bad uefi boot list variables which are not cleared during Windows setup. If any of you have this problem in the future and a lot of patience may...

I love sitting next to folks with iPads.

I concur with that. I've said lots of times that the only reason I can think for MS not supporting connected standby on SFPro 2 is because they want to artificially make the Surface RT more useful and/or not piss the other OEMs too much.

    New 256GB with i5 4200u ?

I'm surprised by how "consumer-friendly" and RMA happy MS stores are. Here (no MS stores in this country) I basically had to argue for half an hour in order to get a dead-on-arrival type cover replaced...

I love sitting next to folks with iPads.

I am sorry but I feel stupid when I'm at the security checkpoint and my bag contains a tablet, laptop, and Kindle (actually Nook for me) and chargers for all 3 devices + phone/PDA. Extra annoyance if security guys ask me to put them on different trays (for some reason tends to happen more often...

Surface Pro 2 Chinese edition with Euro recovery + wireless info

Did you actually try to.. change the language of the login screen? This can be done from the languages control panel applet (at least from the classic style one), and will change the languages of the login prompt, the text that appears while installing updates, etc. The Surface Pro is basically...

    Your preferred resolution

I can do that on my SFPro2, stock Windows.... However, I can clearly see it's just running everything at 1.5x then scaling down on the external monitor, making it look slightly blurry. But I was actually impressed about how nice scaling works on Windows these days.

    Wacky battery antics

This is clearly a firmware issue (ie they need to increase the number of voltage samples they take by an order of magnitude before reporting on remaining capacity). From a hardware point of view, I'm not surprised there's such a huge drop considering the small battery and that load can...

SanDisk 128 GB Format for Speed?

It also makes the SFPro hot to the touch, even if you've just been starting at the start screen.

Would This Be Possible.. Or Practical?

The "weird" power cover charging algorithm seems exactly designed to ensure that most of the wear goes to the power cover.
