    About scratches and warranties.

Yeah, stop saying that. I don't know about the scratches, because I have none yet, but seriously, I can chip away the paint with my fingernails. No other device I ever had was this fragile. It's not surprising in this case people get scratches. Whatever the painting process for the SFPro2, it...

making the most of the battery

The Surface Pro doesn't allow the two things that would allow most maximization of battery life, which are: - Removing it (to store it somewhere cool at 50% charge) - Running the device from the charger while not charging the battery (since it's not going to be stored cool, at least keep it at...

Avoid Yahoo Messenger for proper tablet sleep and longer battery life

In non-RT Surface, it's impossible for userspace programs to reduce battery life during sleep. This is because the Surface Pro doesn't support Connected Standby or Intel Smart Connect, so during sleep it is basically stuck sleeping until hardware wakes it. Software can't. powercfg /energy only...

    Hyperlinks in Win8 Mail

It's stupid. Autolinkification is something that almost all web developers know how to do. Yet the Windows 8 Mail client, developed by one of the most powerful software companies in the world, doesn't do it. I'd send a feature request but requiring my full name to be viewable by EVERYONE who'd...

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

It's quite clear it's most probable a DSDT bug (trivially fixable for whoever designed the DSDT for MS, if it wasn't MS itself). I can think of a few ways to workaround it but no idea what secondary effects it would have (e.g. why is the wakeup ISR enabled at all when the system is already in...

    About scratches and warranties.

Just watch this to see how the Surface Pro ends up in a few weeks of use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTNfCF8TJrg#t=272 (around 4:30)

Battery drain, possible due to USB Selective Suspend=

I would be surprised if Metro IE used more battery life than Desktop IE. IE uses acceleration in both modes. In fact, the GPU is always used ever since Vista days. But Metro IE is more strict when suspending JavaScript timers. etc.

    About scratches and warranties.

Well, I can chip the "anodization" off with my fingernails. So much for VaporMG.

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

Well, we now have plenty of tools to identify whether it's the same issue or not. See above for some examples. Personally I am reproducing it right now with no SD card, and both the charger and MS Ethernet adaptar plugged in.

    About scratches and warranties.

Basically paint is wearing out on the area I often grab it by. It's not scratches, it's more than the paint simply chips off. Lasted for a full month before it started wearing out; this never happened to me with any other device.

    About scratches and warranties.

These devices scratch terribly easy. I am sure no one in his right mind will associate the scratches with a loss of touch screen functionality. Just send it back, explicitly mention you are sending it back because of a touchscreen defect.

Surface Pro & Pro 2 Eye Strain

It's probable the eye strain is caused by reflections on the screen (it's extremely glossy) more than any high frequency flicker.

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

The Xbox Music process stays around if you close it the Metro way. Use the task manager to verify. You can use LatencyMon to try to guess if it's the same issue or not. More ideally, the ACPI trace log (as above) could be used, but I haven't figured out how to setup it yet. In any case and as...

Where do you keep your Cover 2 when not attached?

I always have the cover attached. Personally I think that's the point of the cover. Otherwise I'd have personally used a bluetooth keyboard -- much cheaper (albeit less stylish of course).

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

That's probably the "device ejected" chime playing + audio idle timeout.

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

Ok, It seems that 0x6D is the GPE used by the EHCI, XHCI, and HDEF devices to wake the device from S3. Or at least that's what the _PRW methods for the devices say. That explains what _L6D does. Its weird that GPE 0x6D would be masked when the sound card is disabled, as that would mean the...

Note also that they are different SSD models, so some discrepancy is expected. Not sure how much is attributable to Windows, how much to the SSD, etc.
