    Surface Pro 3 launched - 12" tablet, 9mm thick, 2160x1440

This is offtopic, but.. Well, the Surface Pro 2 has a fully working realtime clock that is capable of not only waking the device from suspend, but even turning it on at a programmed time. It works without a problem under GNU/Linux. So the reason the Windows 8 Alarms programs doesn't support...

    Surface Pro 3 launched - 12" tablet, 9mm thick, 2160x1440

I am, but it's going to be really bad if the SP4 is N-Trig and 12'' too. I guess SP2 is both first Surface I buy and last one too for me then. I think he mentioned this "top stylus button" OneNote mode works even while the Surface is off. Which I'd personally say is stupid, as what they should...

    Surface Pro 3 launched - 12" tablet, 9mm thick, 2160x1440

That's clearly copy-paste error, they just reused the SFPro2 specs. I do however think that they've compromised on _something_. They've enlarged the screen and reduced the weight. Savings can't come from processor (identical as last year's), or from battery (because SFPro's one had already...

    Surface Pro 3 launched - 12" tablet, 9mm thick, 2160x1440

Meh, I love how he stressed "no compromises" were made. We'll see about that on the benchmarks. For a start, the i3 version is certainly less powered than the SFPro2. So the new hardware is larger (12''), with a 3:2 screen (that's interesting!), variable stand (talk about "incremental...

just bought a wireless adapter for typing covers, ask me anything about it

Wow, 2 hours only? With such a huge battery, how did they manage such a short runtime? Does it power the backlight?

Micro SD Card? exFat or NTFS and allocation size?

It dependes on what you want to do with The card. Interoperability with Mac, Linux and/or virtually all SDHC equipment which does not support exFAT? Then FAT32. Use a large block size for increased performance (e.g. 32 KiB), but small files will then waste more space. Support for files larger...

    sp3 specs

Well, the PPI's not known yet. But if you think so then you should have used the 13incher Retina as reference, which is ... $1999. Yes. That's exactly why the pricing is wrong. "If you have a product consumers believe to be the best in class...".

    sp3 specs

With Intel being late there's nothing good that can come out of this "refresh". Whatever they upgrade it will be always mean a reduction in some other metric. Personally I still doubt they're going to do this. Besides, pricing lists on day 1???? I don't think this is Microsoft we're talking...

Very deep scratch on top of Surface Pro 2/paint chipping very easily

It seems that virtually every other SFPro2 unit has "paint" problems so I wouldn't really bother with replacements unless it really matters you. E.g. see http://www.surfaceforums.net/forum/microsoft-surface-pro-2/8754-about-scratches-warranties.html

    Boot from USB?

I doubt the Surface Pro will boot normal "El Torito" PC-bootable DVDs, because it completely lacks a BIOS (the same reason it will never boot anything older than Windows 8). Discs that are FAT32 formatted or at least hybrid, containing a "EFI" directory are your best bet. You will not be able...

Red Screen issue with the Microsoft Surface pro 2

Do something like: - First disable Secure Boot, save and reboot - Then ENABLE secure boot, save and reboot again - Then clear secure boot keys, save and reboot, - then install default secure boot keys, save and reboot - then do nothing but reboot again just in case. I'd never trust anyone at MS...

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

Ever since update 1 I've been having a harder time to reproduce the problem, but it definitely stills happens here. That said I'm now less time with Windows.

    About scratches and warranties.

Funnily, today (while moving on bed :) ) I accidentally lightly knocked the right side of my SFPro2 into a wall corner. I was totally expecting to see a big new chip on that side, but... it was perfect! So, for some reason, paint chips/wears away more easily with sweat, etc. "wear and tear"...

Surface Event May 20th NY City billed as a "Small Gathering"

Supposedly some changes in 8.1 Update 1 allow for significant reductions in Windows' disk space footprint: Microsoft Fixes OS Disk Space Consumption with New WIMBoot in Windows 8.1 Update 1 | Windows 8.1 content from Windows IT Pro A 16GiB Surface would be a hell of a reason they spent so much...

Does my SP2 have normal or sub par battery life?

I know that you love pointing how the Intel GPU is responsible for all battery problems that plague the world, but seriously, ever since Vista the GPU is used for _everything_ on Windows. Disabling desktop composition as well as turning off the "graphics acceleration" slider a few notches (it's...

    About scratches and warranties.

The related threads section shows that a very similar (if not identical) thread in the Surface Pro (1) forum, so ... yes. In fact I extensively read that thread before purchasing the SFPro2. However, the RT Surfaces seem to be ... harder.

    Hyperlinks in Win8 Mail

I use a custom EAS server and they don't work either. I suspect your server may be doing converting your mail to HTML and autolinkifying. How would one go around and sending a feature request? :)
