Why I really dislike using my Surface Pro 2

I agree with the hardware complains, but to be honest... I am yet to find anything better. If anyone finds it please tell. The SFPro3 is not an option because it is not wacom and because it is, well, larger... The final three problems are just the usual Windows problems.

    Paint Bubbles

a "bad batch"? I guess it's quite a large bad batch since chipping happened on the SFPro1, the SFPro2 and still happens on the SFPro3: http://www.surfaceforums.net/threads/paint-chips-on-bottom-of-kickstand.9489/ Besides, as I said, look at all the other threads, YouTube video reviews, etc. I...

    Paint Bubbles

Just search for "Paint" in this subforum and you'll get plenty of hits. Air bubbles, flacking off, scratches, chips, peeling, you name it. I've had chiping issues (but no scratching or bubbles): http://www.surfaceforums.net/threads/about-scratches-and-warranties.8754/ In fact "similar threads"...

    Plugged In, NOT Charging, Why?

I've seen this when the temperature is too high. Seemingly it'll refuse to charge batteries if it's on with a too high temperature. (I think it's a reasonable precaution)

Surface Pro & Pro 2 Eye Strain

The comment may be completely fine, if, for example, it comes from having had a gazillion patients who claimed to have eyestrain and eye drops fixed the problem. If you have proof that eye drops don't work on you, then fine, feel free to correct him and call someone who just tried to help you...

    Sat Nav (GPS)

I have a Jolla, but for e.g. Android there are some articles http://androgeoid.com/2010/10/using-your-android-phone-as-a-bluetooth-gps-transmitter/

Extremely dim display, can't adjust brightness

Unsurprisingly I had the same issue: http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/microsoft/63364-sfpro2-adaptative-brightness-stuck-dim.html I don't really install anything on Windows (I did install VS2013 though, but that was long ago), so it probably was a recent update. Not sure though. Not a hardware...

    Sat Nav (GPS)

You can also use your smartphone. There are some apps that can "share" the smartphone's GPS.

The "30% CPU at idle because of System + Interrupts" issue

It's funny, so this happens too on the SP3? Maybe you can try some of the stuff we tried on the early posts to check if it's the same issue?

    4300u, VT-d, and Hyper-V

VT-d is completely useless on the Surface Pro unless you want to passthrough PCI devices. "Passthrough" here means _complete_ passthrough, i.e. the virtual machine gains access to the PCI card _instead_ of the host. Passthrough of PCI devices is not even implemented on Hyper-V client editions...

Surface Pro & Pro 2 Eye Strain

Please try to refrain from calling other comments "ignorant", then. For a largest majority of people all of the eye strain _will_ be caused by reflections. I completely disagree with stuff like: That is outright false. Please provide empirical proof. Don't say "in your experience", because...

Time to RMA SP2 due to the mSD-battery drain bug?

No, it is not. I believe this issue is way more widespread than it seems, because many people will only notice their SFPros getting "warmer" and losing battery life.

Time to RMA SP2 due to the mSD-battery drain bug?

How did you manage to get Microsoft to post a patch so promptly, specially when we've bene complaining for months? It works great so far.

Time to RMA SP2 due to the mSD-battery drain bug?

Finally, only took an entire product cycle to fix this. However, I ponder why they're not shipping this via the normal channels. Are monthly updates to SFPro 1/2 dead already?

Time to RMA SP2 due to the mSD-battery drain bug?

It's a problem with power saving and firmware, so it depends on many things, but not on the type of the SD card. The SD card reader "abstracts" memory cards after all. Also note that one can trigger it by pluggin random USB pendrives on the USB port (and that makes sense, because the SD card...

Time to RMA SP2 due to the mSD-battery drain bug?

Why do you even think it's fixed on the SFPro 3? Same internals...

    Surface Pro 3 launched - 12" tablet, 9mm thick, 2160x1440

I know the official specs say TPM2, but let's be honest: the spec is written by MS itself. Most of the changes required are in the drivers or software. The TPM isn't even used in most configurations. I know its useless to ask, but now that MS has shown that they have done the required driver...

    Surface Pro 3 launched - 12" tablet, 9mm thick, 2160x1440

So now it's confirmed we're stuck without connected standby in sfpro <= 2. Great. Btw, Anandtech confirms CPU on sfpro3 is 4300U, performance differences are negligible compared with SFPro2.
