Here's something interesting. Would Microsoft put a Kaby Lake Y dual core which uses 4.5W instead of a Kaby Lake U dual core that uses 15W? It would save a lot of a battery power and the Dell XPS 13 2 in 1 uses them too.

You could use a used Surface Pro 3 but it doesn't have the same screen resolution as a Surface Pro 4 and was about 15% to 30% slower if I remember correctly. It's also used and not brand new too. But if the price is a good deal, then go for it.

Welcome to the forum. I would say the choice between an M3 and the i5 would also come down to price. If you can afford to go for the i5 then do it but if not then go for the M3. The M3 is unable to support 3 displays when using DisplayPort with the Surface Dock if that matters to you.

The Bluetooth on the SP4 has to be on in order for the pen button to activate OneNote.

An iPad doesn't have a docking station whereas the SP3 & SP4 do. You can hookup 2 monitors to the Surface Pro dock for a total of 3 monitors altogether. You could wait until the SP5 comes out next Spring.

I've noticed that my CPU fan is on in my Surface Pro 4 has been on while nothing is running. I checked out Task Manager and noticed that two Microsoft IME tasks were at 30% usage. Shouldn't they be close to zero percent since the Surface Pro 4 is not doing anything? I have Simplified Chinese...
