Actually Norton is not a hog. Norton 360 takes up 25 Mb of RAM. During a full system scan running exclusively it will temporarily chew up about a GB max. But releases it quite quickly if the system is in use. IE 11 and Edge are hogs eating up 100+MB per tab. As are some other programs.. I don't...

I think the volumes for Book One will be so small, given that its not even advertised I would be very surprised if we see any real reviews anytime soon. I guess the Book One is a niche product in a very niche market.

Well even my SP4 is mostly a laptop, other than note taking and white boarding. For pure laptop use cases I have a Dell XPS 15. I would agree on most 1st Gen products.. however this one actually looked to be quite solid.

The Porsche Design Book One might be an alternative. Though more in the SB category than the SP4 one.

Stands to reason.. check the MS site. They certainly have dropped prices on SB

Given you want to do graphics intensive work, the SB may be a better choice given the dGPU. MS has dropped the price of the SB, which typically signals a new model is around the corner.

To upgrade or not to upgrade. That is the question... SP4 i7 currently. Sooooo tempting. Or should I just hold off for SB2

Use an external drive. You can pick up a 1TB SSD quite cheaply (relative) and its the size of a credit card.

GPU enabled VM's are available quite readily on Azure.

I just hope they launch it in the yUK/EU at the same time as the US. From a spec and form factor view I do hope for a bigger screen, and more RAM. 32 GB would be nice.

Its a device, and devices do die. The SP2 is quite old now in terms of a computer, so I would just bite the bullet on this. Unlike other laptops of the same vintage, these aren't quite so readily fixable, it is a trade off. It's just bad luck, I hope you haven't lost any data.

MS Tech Support does not support 3rd party software. They wouldn't try selling you Kaspersky etc... are you sure you were talking to MS and not a 3rd party support shop?

You cant meaningfully compare a tablet with the Surface Pro.. crApples to Oranges really. If you need the device to be meaningfully productive, the SP is the way to go. Else continue with the iPad.
