    What's a fair price?

Looks like about £1K which to me sounds ok. Subsidises my next device quite nicely. :)

    Porsche Design Book One

Decisions.. decisions...decisions.. I certainly don't need three devices. 1 inch of screen space.. isn't much of a differentiator. I guess it will probably boil down to being different.. which is stupid I know. Lets see. I am not making up my mind until the new pen becomes available at the...

Surface Pro x alternatives if no SP5

Saw a bunch of the reviews.. nothing new. Would love benchmarks, real life experience in using it etc. We shall see,,

SP 4 with System Resource Issues

Actually Norton is not a hog. Norton 360 takes up 25 Mb of RAM. During a full system scan running exclusively it will temporarily chew up about a GB max. But releases it quite quickly if the system is in use. IE 11 and Edge are hogs eating up 100+MB per tab. As are some other programs.. I don't...

    What's a fair price?

For an i7/16 GB/256 GB/ Warranty until March 18. A few extra pieces of software nothing spectacular per se. Based in the yUK.

Surface Pro x alternatives if no SP5

I think the volumes for Book One will be so small, given that its not even advertised I would be very surprised if we see any real reviews anytime soon. I guess the Book One is a niche product in a very niche market.

    Porsche Design Book One

Then again the new SP has similar specs and is lighter. Even the battery is in the same ball park. I guess I need to go play with the Book One a little more. This really isn't a case of need, but more want.. At this point the price point between a similarly speced SP i7 Kaby Lake, SB and Book...

    Porsche Design Book One

Well even my SP4 is mostly a laptop, other than note taking and white boarding. For pure laptop use cases I have a Dell XPS 15. I would agree on most 1st Gen products.. however this one actually looked to be quite solid.

Surface Pro x alternatives if no SP5

The Porsche Design Book One might be an alternative. Though more in the SB category than the SP4 one.

    Porsche Design Book One

Anyone have a Book One. Saw it at the Porsche Design shop in the airport the other day. Essentially an i7 Kaby Lake, 16 GB/512 GB surface book type of deal, with a few exceptions. The screen is detachable and the hinge goes a full 360 degrees. More pots than the Surfacebook including...

Now that new Surface Pro is out, and good discounts on SP4?

Stands to reason.. check the MS site. They certainly have dropped prices on SB

Surface Book with P.B. or new Surface Pro i7 16GB Ram?

Given you want to do graphics intensive work, the SB may be a better choice given the dGPU. MS has dropped the price of the SB, which typically signals a new model is around the corner.

Microsoft Announces New Surface Pro at Shanghai Event

To upgrade or not to upgrade. That is the question... SP4 i7 currently. Sooooo tempting. Or should I just hold off for SB2

Largest Reliable Micro SD available for the SP4?

Use an external drive. You can pick up a 1TB SSD quite cheaply (relative) and its the size of a credit card.

MS could propose something like Razer for SP5

GPU enabled VM's are available quite readily on Azure.

    Surface Pro 5 Discussion

I just hope they launch it in the yUK/EU at the same time as the US. From a spec and form factor view I do hope for a bigger screen, and more RAM. 32 GB would be nice.

    Do I Hold Any Grounds?

Its a device, and devices do die. The SP2 is quite old now in terms of a computer, so I would just bite the bullet on this. Unlike other laptops of the same vintage, these aren't quite so readily fixable, it is a trade off. It's just bad luck, I hope you haven't lost any data.

Frustrated with tech support in India ?

MS Tech Support does not support 3rd party software. They wouldn't try selling you Kaspersky etc... are you sure you were talking to MS and not a 3rd party support shop?

    Sept 13 Update

That is what I ended up doing.. the manual install was easy enough.

Surface Pro worth it? Any issues? Compared to iPad Pro 12.9?

You cant meaningfully compare a tablet with the Surface Pro.. crApples to Oranges really. If you need the device to be meaningfully productive, the SP is the way to go. Else continue with the iPad.
