    First Impressions

I attached the pen holder to the SP3 itself as this seemed a much more suitable surface for adhesion than the soft material stuff on the keyboard. This never once felt like it was going to fall off and was very secure. But I hated how it looked, and the pen sits nicely in my bag instead now.

Yep, download the Arc Touch app and there is a volume control for it. Edit: This one: http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-gb/app/arc-touch-bluetooth-mouse/53b51973-a8c6-46fc-8a24-369d3804b0b3

Poll Touchpad vs Mouse for desktop use?

Yeh definitely a mouse for desktop use! I use the touchpad and the Arc Touch for general use and travel, but if I was going to go full in docking/monitors etc. then definitely I'd be getting a full mouse!

    Mail app vs. Outlook

    1. Yep, two separate emails come through, however with Mail you can set it to only download the past few days/weeks so it doesn't take up as much space. 2. Maybe he doesn't work weekends, so not as much need for a 'business' style email program. 3. Outlook is a desktop win32 app, so yes it will...

SP3 hinge slipping down when about 10 to 15 degrees of fully extended (is this inevitable?)

Mine does the same when it's at extremes, but I've only noticed in on slippery surfaces where the stand/Surface easily slide around. A solution really would be some more rubbery "feet" on the edges of the stand to prevent it slipping.

    Hacking Surface Pro 3 (hardware)

Yeh pretty sure iFixit smashed the screen in their teardown as it is glued in place and you can't access anything unless this is removed. I believe MS/Apple/whoever have a chemical that can break down the glue for recycling purposes, but you'd have to submerge the entire thing in it for this to...

    Mail app vs. Outlook

Depends what I'm doing - if it's work stuff then Outlook, but for the most part Mail does exactly what it needs to - show me email.

    People/contacts/Outlook.com question

You seem to be in old Outlook will not synch with Outlook/Hotmail/Live situation, which I always felt was pretty stupid. My best advised would be t ditch Outlook 2007 and get Outlook 2013 instead, as this has native ActiveSync support so will work perfectly with your Outlook.com for mail...

    itunes to micro sd

It only needs things on the c drive (other than the actual program) if you tell it to. By default iTunes will try and store you library on your C drive, but you can simply change this either in settings or by pointing it at the library file on sd card. Change this if need be.
