There was a firmware update released on Oct 5th (September Updates for Surface Pro 4, Surface Book, and Surface 3) but I have yet to see it when I check for updates on my Surface Book. Has anyone gotten the update yet?

The Surface Book has a 8.0 MP rear camera with 1080p HD video recording and I haven't used it once since owning the device. The clipboard is too big to walk around taking pictures or recording videos. I just use my phone camera for that. Just wondering if anyone actually uses the rear camera.

Out of curiosity what do you guys store on the SD cards, because if you detach the clipboard you lose access? I backup my files on another hard drive and use a usb drive to transfer files.

I've been noticing that my SB only gives me around 4 sec to detach the clipboard before it turns red with a "failed to open" message. If I detach within 4 sec I have no issues, but I'll get the error message within 4 sec and it won't let me release after that. Anyone else run into this issue...

Actually my base did get a small dent when I accidentally dropped my SB on a hard surface. It doesn't impact anything and I do have the MS Complete coverage in case I ever want to replace it.

If you don't play games or use specialized graphics intensive programs (Autocad, etc.), then the non-dGPU model should be fine (even in the long-run). However as others have said, you should give serious consideration to the 256GB model as space might be an issue in the future.

I agree with your points and I'm not supporting Microsoft's decision, but if I was given the option of getting the SB with hiccups 6 months earlier and told that it will improve to over time to a great product in 6 months, I would take that option.

I've seen the these transparent film covers but I rather have something dense like the smart or typecovers, where I can take it off whenever I'm using the SB as a laptop and put it back on when I'm just walking around with the screen. It doesn't look like they've made any for the SB yet.
