    I would pay $1000 for a Surface 3 if...

I was thinking about performance today as I converted 250 photos, about 5GB out of Lightroom down to 2MB size and then onto OneDrive. It was only using 5.5G of RAM to do this and I haven't seen my computer use more than 8G RAM while using Lightroom and Photoshop. It did it in no time but having...

    New Surface, yellowish display

I would phone their surface help team and ask the question. I returned my surface for the yellow line on the left. Interestingly late one day I was outside with my iPad Air 2 and noticed the colour of the background usually white had gone creamy brown. It was the iPad adjusting to the...

    I would pay $1000 for a Surface 3 if...

i might wait until October. I was reading about Skylake. Wow. By Christmas, Broadwell devices will be discounted and the new Surface Pro 4 will be on sale. I wonder if they'll split the line into M and U variants. I doubt if the Surface 3 will get any upgrade though. I think Microsoft would be...

    I would pay $1000 for a Surface 3 if...

Ok so the Surface 3 needs a Core M and SSD storage. Sounds like the Lenovo Yoga 3 11 inch is looking more attractive. I think it is the only design other than Surface that gives me a techno hard-on.

The biggest issue is eMMC storage. This seems to be the biggest performance bottleneck. The Atom is maybe a good idea though as it runs ridiculously cool. Core M produces a lot more heat.

I might buy the Lenovo Yoga 3 11 inch. This is Core M with 128G SSD/4G and $150 cheaper than the Surface 3. It isn't as small and light but compact just the same. I like the S3 and the magnesium case and the Lenovo is very nice but doesn't match that.

Love it, but so many issues... and having to restart to fix

I would log the issues and return it. It sounds like a small but maybe significant percentage of machines have an issue. If you are lucky then by all means keep it but what if it is a hardware issue or even a software driver issue that takes quite some time to resolve. It seems most people...

Love it, but so many issues... and having to restart to fix

It's interesting you had issues with the sound. Me too. I also had some mysterious hanging issues. I did a system refresh but my wife complained a few times about the windows mail hanging. It then crashed and reset one night. After it restarted I tried to download updates but it hanged on that...

    Surface 3 Charging

It sounds good to me. The important thing is the batteries inside them and Aukey look like a reputable company. A lot of these packs are made by Chinese companies who use crap batteries inside them. Good quality rechargeables are not cheap. Many companies also misrepresent the capacity of their...

What am I going to regret the most if I order the 2GB model?

My wife noticed that the Surface 3 was faster but really didn't say too much else. She's back on the Surface 2 and seems happy. She also said going from the RT to the Surface 2 the same thing, a bit faster. I prefer the screen shape on the S3 but she never seemed to notice.

What am I going to regret the most if I order the 2GB model?

I sent mine back today for a refund. I might get one again later. I'm in two minds as the price differential between this and the Pro is not that much, yet the Pro is much faster and even more so if I wait for the Pro 4. I will have to wait a little while as they are staggering the launches so...

What am I going to regret the most if I order the 2GB model?

I've decided I will leave the Surface 3 until the Surface Pro 4 comes out. The problem for me, aside the fact it had a major fault of causes unknown, is that the Surface 2 is really almost as good, provided you're not dying to get win32 apps you can't have. My wife really quite likes it except...

    Surface 3 Charging

The standard charger does seem incredibly slow in charging if you are using the Surface 3 at the same time.

    The Kickstand is GREAT, however.......

Yes, shame but even my wife's Surface 2 has a few small scratches on the back or so I thought. I just used some cleaner to rub the marks off. I guess if they're serious scratches that has depth and has gone through the coating that is different. Our Surface 2 is about 18 months or so old. You...

    Pouch/Sleeve for S3

I recommend both amazon and ebay. There is some lovely stuff out there mostly from China at prices for outstanding leather that is unbeatable. If you look at my earlier post, the one for the SP3 is sold full width cow leather with great stitching. The Surface 3 case also from dpark is a...

What am I going to regret the most if I order the 2GB model?

Well, I weighed up my options and decided to do a refresh and of course the sound is working now. Jeeeez. This reminds me of the early days of the RT and Surface 2 and probably the Pro series as well. Mysterious ailments, crashes and device driver problems. I fix computers for a living and I...

What am I going to regret the most if I order the 2GB model?

I might in the future but for now it is being returned. I might wait six months until they iron out any hardware issues. Edit: I'm sure if those hardware issues didn't occur we would have kept it. I have no way of knowing of course whether I'm one in 5 or one in 50 or even less. The problem is...

What am I going to regret the most if I order the 2GB model?

I'm returning my wife's Surface 3 for a refund actually. We just found it had no sound and a habit of freezing. The point maybe is a Core M with SSD is the minimum most device affecionados would like. This device is marginal but then so was the Surface 2 before it and as everyone says it is...

What am I going to regret the most if I order the 2GB model?

I don't know what they'll do in the future although obviously there will be some increase in power efficiency and performance. The increases aren't endless though and 11nm is about the limits of x-ray lithography. I remember clearly reading this back in about 1995! It might still be true...

What am I going to regret the most if I order the 2GB model?

I think it is a great device. IMHO, it probably is the pinnacle of technology for such a compact device and such a great screen. I went for the 4G too and you get double the storage, in fact more.
