Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

It's been a whirlwind of issues and updates last few weeks. I was on build 10130 for a long while and even before that, just upgrading to 10130 required jumping thru hoops. Not sure why it took them long to push newer builds, but finally updated to 10158 more than a day ago. Then just yesterday...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Finally hit a point where I've tried these steps and others methods but no joy on the update to 10122. I've been on the Insider fast track since October and most updates have been relatively smooth till this one. 10074 is still good for me as my daily production system and will have to wait for...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Welcome @Mhaddy! Is this a clean install, or did you update from Windows 8.1?

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Yes, noticed this issue after Build 10074 was released. I've submitted feedback and would suggest you do the same (there were others reporting the issue so just do the "me too").

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I haven't done any long video calls with Skype for Business so I haven't seen the video repeat issue (yet). I really like how Microsoft is pushing users to discover and try new features or flush out issues with Quests. It's like a game even though I'm not a gamer, but like giving feedback and...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Win10 is my main daily system with no dual boot. I've been lucky so far (/me knocks on wood) and it's been getting better with each iteration in most areas. I should say I only have the i5/128Gb system and don't really have enough to dual boot which is why I took the leap of faith to make this...

A year later SP3 still getting rave reviews

It's great to see the Surface Pro 3 after a year later getting excellent feedback and rave reviews. Not only did the editor touch up on accessories like the Wireless Display Adapter and cases, but how it's changed daily habits and is now used as a primary system. Really positive to see this and...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I went thru a few apps and other than Settings and Calculator, the Dark Theme regedit does not seem to affect other apps or areas like Start menu. It is great that it complements the Notifications bar and especially nice since most of the W10 themes are light color and having the dark setting...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I really like the Aero glass effect. Also came across a tip for the Dark Theme which I've only seen applied on the Settings page... 1. Open Regedit 2. Create New DWORD value SystemUsesLightTheme, then under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\Personalize 3. Set...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Likewise, I'm not running into any major issues with Chrome as my main browser. But lately, I've noticed some plugins or sites not working correctly with Chrome. Even Oracle acknowledged Java plugin will no longer work with Chrome, ie NPAPI. I'm saddened to see this and have started to use...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Yea the wake-up problem is annoying, been problematic past few builds and no resolution at the moment. I'm trying to get in the habit of just shutting it down completely without having to worry about sleep unless there's a fix soon via an update or new build.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

After un-pairing my pen, I was able to get both single-click (opens OneNote MUI) and double-click (opens OneNote then allows to pic clip a region). :) Now if I can just get the Surface app to work (it installs, but doesn't open). I would like the pen actions to use OneNote 2013 instead of the...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

Hmm, OneNote MUI starts if I double-click the top pen button, then allows me to select region to clip. But pressing once doesn't do anything. I tried installing the Surface app, but somehow it crashes when I click on it. So much for seeing if this works with OneNote 2013.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

    1. Open file Explorer and in the top location field , or in the run window using Windows key + 'R' key (haven't tried it with Cortana/search so not sure about this method) 2. type "\\<ip_address" (for example, mine is \\192.168.1.141) 3. enter username & password when/if prompted hope this helps...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

You should be able to find the IPv4 address from your router setup. It should include all devices connected both wired and wireless. Its weird because file Explorer will show it connected as a computer and in the network, but selecting it won't connect. So I have to use the IP address instead...

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

@haidi Click on Cortana / search bar (or use Windows key), then type first few letter and snipping tool should appear. I have not been paying attention, but not sure why non-Microsoft tiles, i.e., ESPN are not updating even after turning live tile on for each. Microsoft tiles are updated like...

Have you checked to make sure your location is set to US? Also, try clearing history in the Settings and making sure the app in the list is on.

Windows 10 Preview on Surface Pro 3

I think you meant Build 10074, right? I've gone back and forth on connecting/disconnecting my SP3 and don't see any crashes. So far working great! :)
