    Need a reality check

Seems like you partially resolved your own dilemma. I love my SP3, warts and all, and I could not imagine going back to a standard laptop PC. I make liberal use of the touchscreen and pen, however. Every individual should buy only as much technology as he/she needs, and should not go into debt...

Post Your SP3 Power/Battery/Charging Issues Here

I usually just let my SP3 sleep overnight while charging. Some mornings the device is entirely cool, other mornings the upper right area is distinctly warm. Does this indeed suggest that the battery continues to get current even when fully charged, or are there CPU activities that are going on...

    How your handwriting looks like

I would gladly submit a sample of my writing... Could you suggest an easy way to do this? If I try to copy and paste from OneNote, my writing is transformed to text.

    Any Happy SP3 users?

Happy here too. Other than my phone, I do not use any other computing device any more. With the SP3 I have all the horsepower I need for Photoshop, creation of articles and presentations, and doing on-line research. Videos play beautifully on this machine.

    3 Days with the SP3

See Seneleron's post above; the updated driver is from N-trig, and installs automatically after download/follow the prompts.

    digitizer accuracy issue (ripples)

Speaking as a medical professional, I could also argue that intentionally slow drawing is associated with muscular tremor that is unavoidable. The pen is simply responding to physiological tremor. I see the same phenomenon with my SP2.

    3 Days with the SP3

Three days with the SP3 I will preface this post with saying that the SP3 is the device for which I have been waiting for several years; a light, compact tablet PC that has sufficient screen size to replace my laptop. I have been following the SP3 posts for the past several days, and I would...

is SP3 really "in stores" - can i go check it out?

The MS kiosk at the Cherry Hill NJ Mall has SP3 units for demonstration, along with the N-trig pen and Type Cover. The hardware met all of my expectations. The N-trig is far better than the Wacom pen for selections and writing. I love the larger, lighter display. The real winner is the new Type...

    Why a Microsoft Surface?

My turn.... 1. Why did you buy a Microsoft Surface tablet? I bought the original Surface RT because I wanted a touch sensitive, small computer that would do everything I needed for teaching and research. Having a full Office suite in a tablet was awesome. When the Surface Pro was available, I...

Times in Calendar are off by 1 hour after Update 1

Since getting Update 1, the time shown on my start screen is 1 hour ahead of the actual time. I live in Philadelphia, and I went into Control panel and switched off "automatically adjust for Daylight Savings", and the correct time displays. However, the times for all of my appointments are...

I love sitting next to folks with iPads.

My wife just got a Samsung Galaxy Pro 12.2; she is a professional musician and wanted the bigger screen to see sheet music while she is teaching. Guess who got to set it up? It had been a while since I had mucked around in Android land, but I have to admit this is an impressive device! The...

TouchMe Gesture Control Studio - Configure your own finger swipe gestures

This is an application that I could recommend to anyone. The license fee is very reasonable. The flexibility to add and modify multiple touch gestures has been very helpful to me. I am grateful also that my license has allowed me to install this application of 3 of my Windows 8 devices, and they...

Ideas for making the touch pad more visible

This is the same criticism I have of the Type Cover 2. Jeff Roach had written in another thread on this forum that the soft touch pad was put on TC2 after focus groups had preferred this over the original pad that had physical click buttons. I find that right- and left-clicking feel less secure...

Are you happy with your Surface Pro 2?

Happy? Yes. Occasionally annoyed with temporary glitches? Also yes. On the other hand, having dealt with technological problems has taught me a great deal about computer engineering. The basic design and build of the Surface Pro 2 still define a device that is better than anything offered by the...

So, do you ever use the Windows button?

I see that many here do make use of the button. I asked the question, because I think future iterations of Windows tablets may not need to have this extra hard button. Its absence would not make a difference to me.

So, do you ever use the Windows button?

There are now other Windows tablets that are designed with Windows buttons on the side of the device rather than on the bottom front bezel. This seems to upset some people, whereas others don't mind at all. I have to realize that the only time I use the front Windows button is to capture a...
