Wanted: Method to Quickly Turn OFF Screen (Without Inducing Sleep)

I have an SP2 (no dock) with two external daisy-chained monitors. My screen saver is Blank and as you stated, the display is still on, just blank. As a result, my first external monitor doesn't go into sleep/energy-saver mode; this effect is then cascaded to the second monitor. :( Both...

work & watch w/Wireless display adapter

...got caught up and read all posts and I couldn't find any of your posts in this thread that warranted any sort of an apology. You were civil and polite, even after being judged as the "anointed decider" just because you stated your understanding of the purpose of the original post...

work & watch w/Wireless display adapter

It doesn't. Snap is when you want to run to apps side-by-side on the same screen; it's not for your Use Case where you want to project content onto your TV/second monitor while using your Surface screen for other purposes.

Poll Thinktank - An idea for Surface, a challenge for Microsoft

There are many people with Use Cases for a desktop with all its interface ports, slots, drive bays, etc.; a mobile device such as the Surface should not attempt to compete with such stationary-based devices.

    spot the Surface!

They've been using them since the very beginning of the season--including the pre-season games. Here's a recent article on their usage: http://www.theverge.com/2014/12/9/7359503/microsoft-surface-nfl-demo-hands-on

Why Do Most Windows-Based PCs/Laptops/Ultrabooks Suck? Why Surface Exists:

I'm always "amazed" to see how proficient some people are with the trackpad...because I am the complete opposite if I try to use it. ;) When I either deliberately do not want to use the mouse or I lose the ability to use the mouse for whatever reason, I switch to the pen. Needless to say, I...

Surface Pro 4 skipping Broadwell altogether ?

I can't even imagine an SP4 with a Haswell CPU! :) I skipped the SP3 because it uses Haswell; my plan was to skip the SP3 and wait for the new-CPU (Broadwell) SP4.

Best dual monitor docking station setup

All sorts of adapters are available on the market today so even a VGA monitor can be connected to the Surface. There's no criticizing Microsoft here because DisplayPort was the right and best choice--especially for a port-limited device. Prior to upgrading my Denon A/V Receiver, the best...

    Quick Toggle Settings for Surface?

It can certainly be done programmatically (i.e., detection of a connected/disconnected device as you dock/undock) but that's way above my capabilities. ;) However, I know exactly where you are coming from because I had similar requirements for a PC I used for work: When I was on the road, it...

Well, this is enought, no more Surfaces for me.

Unless a device is going to save your life or make you oodles of money, what's the point of exchanging and exchanging and exchanging and exchanging and...? Why continue to be miserable and unhappy if the product keeps disappointing and failing you? Return it for a refund if you can; otherwise...

Does MS really want 1st gen surface out there still?

It's not as if the Surface Pro is somewhat comparable to Windows 95 or XP in the sense that it represents a large number of unsupported Users whom Microsoft would love to see upgrade to the latest platform. Though it is no longer my primary PC, I still use my SP1 for specialized activities...

Well, this is enought, no more Surfaces for me.

Well, whatever the issues, as long as you were not satisfied with the device, then that's all that matters. In life, sometimes a device just doesn't work out for you, no matter how much you try to like it and keep it. So, at one point, it is best if you throw in the towel and get something...

I just realized MS lied to us all!

There was a very long period of time where Microsoft was also in this same boat and they, too, could do no wrong in the eyes of the media. Many superior competitive products and companies eventually failed because they did not carry the Microsoft logo. Well, now, the tables have simply turned...

Why you should move to Surface Pro 3

I agree and I'm convinced the only reason they are doing it is because they do not want to offend the OEMs--the very partners they depend on to build up the Windows ecosystem. Stating that the Surface Pro can replace a PC device is one thing; stating that it can replace a device with another...

Why you should move to Surface Pro 3

No, not true. In my post I am simply stating that you cannot legitimately and effectively tell someone why he/she should move from device/platform A to device/platform B without knowing his/her requirements. For example, I'm a Windows platform person and prior to the Surface Pro, the only...

Russell Wilson Discusses the Surface Pro and how he used to be an Apple Guy

I know, but you really don't think he still has Microsoft blood running through his veins? I do and I'd demand the same thing! ;) Still, Allen or not, I'd expect nothing less from a Seattle/Washington-State based team. To me, this is not different from what is going on at the LA Clippers...

Russell Wilson Discusses the Surface Pro and how he used to be an Apple Guy

As I'm sure you know, I'll never complain about such positive reads but, seriously, were Wilson playing for a team owned by a Google-based exec, for example, what do you think he'd be praising? ;)

    new here, need itunes help!

When you go to iTunes.com and select Download iTunes, it should automatically have the 64-bit version selected for download. It works fine on the Surface Pro, so definitely take the suggestion and uninstall then reinstall.
