I was hesitant to install today's update but I am glad I did. Ran the updates, no issue.
One thing it did fix for sure is the WiFi. At home, I only could connect at max 65 mbps but after the update I got speeds of 130 mbps. That alone was worth it.
Nice review. I agree with dstrauss, that whoever I show this device to, it takes them to realize what it is and once you show them the features, a light bulb goes off and they are very interested in it.
It's like leaving the tags on your new mattress. Seriously though, the paper tab serves no purpose other than to help with instructions. The MS guy ripped off the tab when he put in the battery for my pen when I got my replacement SP3 from a new box.
Obvious questions, but I have to ask. Did you install the battery? Did you pair the pen to the SP3?

Just came out of a meeting with a devout Mac user. She is a consultant in our office and she has her personal Macbook Air and the desktop that we deployed to her. She is so used to her Mac that when she uses the mouse on the Windows desktop, she single clicks files and folders in explorer and...
Read my posts about the issue I had with the SP3 and touch not working.

I ended up returning mine and got an immediate replacement and haven't had any issues since.
If you look carefully, the top corner edges stick out a bit compared to the middle so it accentuates the curve. I don't believe it to be a defect, but a design outcome.
I was just messing around with it to see if it would help. By no means am I thinking of strapping on the heat sink to my SP3. Having a desk fan blowing at the back of the SP3 works better.
Well, I don't have access to a 3D printer, so I don't have the luxury of making my own fan attachment. Since the heatsink is a passive one, it probably doesn't work as well as the fan, but in combination, it might be a better solution.
Depending on your situation. If you're in the same network Microsoft RDP is good. I use UltraVNC as well.
For simple remote access, my vote would be for TeamViewer. If you have to remote into a system in a bind, and have nothing set up previously, join.me works well too.
How about this? I had an old heat sink lying around from some broken machines so I was playing around with this concept. It actually does work where the heat sink did get warm and pull heat off the back of the SP3, but since it was flat, the built in venting probably didn't work as well as it...
+1 for the Plugable USB dock. I have the UD-3900 that supports dual monitor and I have a "REAL" IBM Model M keyboard hooked up to the dock and it works great. The only thing I plug into the SP3 is the one USB cable from the dock and the power plug.
