Can confirm. I have the i3 model and I use Drawboard PDF for my school books (up to 300 pages PDF) . If you buy it, it even has ink pressure sensitivity. Highly recommend it. No lag for me.

Before I first plugged it in I connected 3 USB Sticks and a 100mbit connection. Then I connected it, it installed some drivers and everything worked fine. As I don't own a 100mbit+ connection I can't tell if 1gbit would work.

I think connected standby can be useful sometimes. That's why I just made a hibernate shortcut to my desktop, so when I want to save battery, I'll just double click it and it will go to standby.

I love my Surface. Only annoying thing is getting this shitty taskbar up (when in auto-hide) with your finger/pen. Not working 90% of the time on first try.

37gb free and 42gb if you move the Recovery partition to an external USB stick. I3 will be enough for what you described.
