    Frequent Random Pauses/Freezes

Just a word of caution. Sending back your Advanced Replacement from MS without sending back the original has proved to be a huge pain in the rump. MS understood why I wanted to keep my original and send back the replacement (fully setup vs. losing a day to setup a temp replacement) but...

[PHOTO] album of your Surface Pro 3 desk set up

My SP3 docked in the MS docking station and connected to the middle monitor via mini-DP to DVI through the dock and to the side monitor through mini-DP to DVI connected directly to the SP3.

    Solved 5GHz Wifi

Using 5GHx on my Ubiquiti access points as well. No issues connecting or roaming between APs.

SP3 hooked up to dual monitors

Yes, this works very well. I have my main large display hooked to the docking station and then I connect my secondary display directly to the Surface if I want to use it. For my use case, I don't need 3 screens (Surface + 2 external) very often, so I only plug in the 3rd monitor as needed.

    Frequent Random Pauses/Freezes

Got the replacement, but it will not recognize the docking station. Sending the replacement back and hoping that 3rd time is a charm. Otherwise the new Helix is calling my name.

    Replacement SP3 doesn't recognize dock

I had to have my SP3 replaced due to a hardware with the SSD or controller. The replacement SP3 doesn't seem to fully recognize the Microsoft Docking Station. It shows video through the DisplayPort on the dock just fine, but neither USB or Ethernet are recognized. I've tried looking for updates...

    Frequent Random Pauses/Freezes

I really don't have an issue with reinstalling. I used to do it every couple months. My main concern is that I that I may have a hardware issue of some sort that I've just masked for the time being.

    Frequent Random Pauses/Freezes

Reinstalling Windows 8.1 made the problem go away. I'm really not satisfied with that as a solution since I have no idea what caused it, but at least the issue is gone...

    Command for Disabling Touchpad?

I thought the same but I tried both and neither worked after the refresh of my device.

    Command for Disabling Touchpad?

I just had to reset my PC during some troubleshooting with Microsoft and I lost the option... I'm not sure what is different other than installing the latest update along with a bunch of other stuff through MS Update. It is pretty frustrating when things don't behave in a deterministic fashion...

    Frequent Random Pauses/Freezes

In the middle of a Windows 8 reinstall now. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to re-upgrade to Enterprise and rejoin the domain. Thankfully my company provides a nice tool to take care of both steps, but it still takes a while.

    Frequent Random Pauses/Freezes

Mine always comes back in about 30 seconds and there is a corresponding warning in the System log in Event Viewer.

    Frequent Random Pauses/Freezes

The jinx worked. Still having the issue today. I am working with MS Support now and it looks like it may end up being a warranty issue.

    Frequent Random Pauses/Freezes

I am optimistic that I have it fixed but reinstalling the SATA driver. In an effort to jinx myself, here are the steps I followed: 1. Download and unzip "Surface Pro 3 - June 2014" driver pack from Microsoft. 2. Uninstalled Intel 8 Series SATA AHCI Controller from Device Manager (check the...

    Frequent Random Pauses/Freezes

Got a freeze and warning in the log with the SD removed, chkdsk /r didn't find any bad errors but it did cleanup some index entries. Waiting to see if it happens again now. ------------ Log from chkdsk /r ----------------------- Checking file system on C: The type of the file system is NTFS...

    Frequent Random Pauses/Freezes

Sorry it has been a while since I posted... The freeze coincides with an storahci warning in the System log. The message is: "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued. I've removed my SD card for now and I will do a diskchk.

    Command for Disabling Touchpad?

Strange, did you take all the updates this week?

    Command for Disabling Touchpad?

Probably old news now, but just in case you haven't seen it there is a setting included with this week's MS Update that does what you are looking for. Open the settings Charm and go to PC and Devices -- Mouse and touchpad Then just toggle "Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected" setting.
