The small extension is simply to assist with routing the device and assisting in eliminating interference with adjacent ports. I have never heard that one before... Plus, a standard HDMI cable has male connectors at both ends, so a female coupler would still be required in your scenario.

This is a known issue with DX11 and the Intel drivers. If the game allows you to disable DX11 features (or select an earlier version), then it should scale properly.

Don't forget the portability factor. I can still use my SP2 as a tablet when using the Corsair drive unlike being tethered to an external HDD.

Investing in apps is a dead end strategy. WinRT is dead and no one who really wants a laptop replacement wants to exist in an app ecosystem. The Windows store will never be able to compete with the Android and Apple counterparts. App developers and users alike don't care about Window apps.

If it is in standard retail packaging, it is not refurbished. I do not believe that the kiosks (or MS stores) stock refurbished units.
