My Surface will not start, freq problem

Glad to help. Which method worked? the hold power down 30 seconds, then restart or the 2 button shut down? If the first method worked, then it was just stuck asleep and needed to be forced to shut down. The second more complicated method is to force a cold boot.

My Surface will not start, freq problem

Make sure the power charger is plugged in and it's been charging a while so the issue isn't a very low charge. First try holding power button down for at least 15 - 30 seconds (this forces a shut down in case it was stuck in a sleep mode). Then try press of power button. If that didn't work...

    Type Cover not working

Have any of you tried your keyboard on another Surface and another type cover on your Surface? I had my type cover stop working on my SP3. It worked on other Surfaces and other (working) type covers did not work on my SP3. Took it back to a MS store and when they were able to demonstrate the...

    Surface Pro 3 'best' or?

I'm on my third SP3 and this one has been the best. The 1st was replaced by a new one at the MS store because of a pen issue and replacement had the same issue (but it was not the pen, they tried a new pen on the 1st and it didn't work). The 3rd replacement was a refurb and it has worked the...

    Medical history forms

No, I just searched with Bing for medical forms. I am sure there are many companies that make medical forms in editable formats, but you can just use a PDF file as your template, have your pts. ink them in a PDF reader that supports inking and then Save As.

    Medical history forms

You can make the form in Word and save it as a pdf file, or there are many available to download (just Google or Bing "medical history form") some free, some for a small fee for editable versions. Once you have the form you want as a pdf file you can use Foxit PDF reader and when the pt is done...

can we take screenshot without snip tool?

Cant use Print Screen if you don't have a separate keyboard. As explained here "hold the power button down and then press the volume-down button to take a screenshot. The screenshot will be saved in the Screenshots folder under “This PC.” "

Solved Outlook Task reminders can't be set

In the email view, do you see that Outlook data file showing in the Folder Pane (on right, or go to View/Folder Pane - Normal)? If not go to File/Open & Export - Open Outlook Data File and import your .pst file with the tasks there. Then in the email view again you should see that data file name...

Solved Outlook Task reminders can't be set

Are you right clicking on the top level of that data file, or on one of the folders inside it? I get the "Display reminders and tasks ---" option when I click on the data file name and click "Data File Properties", but not when I right click on a folder and pick "Properties".

A few strange problems. . .Volume button re mapping itself. . . thoughts

Don't know if all those problems are related, but the screenshot issue sounds like a problem with the buttons. To take a screenshot on SP4 you hold the power button down and then press the volume-down button. So, could some dirt or lint be wedged into your power button partially holding it down...

Surface Pro 3 - best computer I've owned

I am in that boat with you. I'm sure the SP4 is a bit better, but not enough for me to shell out all that $$$ for the upgrade, and I'm afraid my SP3 is going better than ever (thanks to MS getting the initial bugs worked out of Win10) so I have no reason to get the new SP 2017. Like Hughlle, I...

This is for you if you take extensive notes -- any good solutions on finding/structuring/sorting?

Thanks @jnjroach! This thread has given me the opportunity to learn how good OneNote search really is. Your examples are really helpful. I just saw you can pin the search results so you can hop around from document to document to find what you want. And it matched searched words that were typed...

This is for you if you take extensive notes -- any good solutions on finding/structuring/sorting?

Do you have OneNote notebook files saved on One Drive? If so OneNote does OCR in the background and you can search for even handwritten terms. Make a point of block printing neatly key terms in your notes so there's no trouble with OneNotes OCR engine recognizing it (and give it some time to do...

New Surface Pro i7 16GB RAM 1TB storage

I guess it all depends. If the money is burning a hole in your pocket and you have to have the best. Seems to me the extra $500 for 1TB storage over the 512GB model may not be worth it. You can add storage with a mSD card and if you use OneDrive you can have files stored there (and not locally)...

    Pen Battery Finally Ran Out

My pens last 1 to 1 1/2 years per battery too. I have a radar detector remote that also uses AAAA batteries, and yes it seems to me I see them more available now (like in CVS pharmacy on their battery rack).
