Not compatible with Windows 10 May 2020 update yet?

Seems MS is being a bit disingenuous; "but your device isn’t quite ready for it." should read "but it is not quite ready for your device". For those of us with SP7 or SL3 that's what we get for getting the latest and greatest.

Not compatible with Windows 10 May 2020 update yet?

Bummer. Yeah I got this notice too. Don't think it's a compatibility issue, MS say on the web site you get from Learn more "(Note: You may not see Download and install on your device as we are slowly throttling up this availability over the coming weeks, or your device might have a compatibility...

Other than this group/ forum, where can I get insights from veteran users on Evolution / Improvements in OneNote through 2010, 2013, 2016/19?

This is great news to me. OneNote 2016 has features such as the ability to copy text (OCR) off pasted pictures, saves me a lot of re-typing.

Slow Wi-Fi Download Speeds, but Upload Speeds OK?

Get a SP7. I know this wont help your organization with a lot of Surfaces, but I had a SP3 and upped my Internet speed to 200Mbps but I just never got that. I even had the ISP come out to my home to check the connection from the telephone pole to my house. Then i got the SP7 and bang! I'm...

keyboard only works when power is fully drained Help!

Yes, I had this with my SP3. Took it to a MS store. My keyboard worked on other SP3s they had there and keyboards they had didn't work on mine. Factory reset didn't help X 2. They replaced it with a refurbished one. This was the 3rd time I needed the SP3 replaced between 2014-2016. The 1st and...

Super long boot times, hanging at black Surface screen

Very interesting. It seems your SP3 has trouble with that keyboard. It would be great if you could try booting with a different keyboard and also having someone with another SP try booting with your keyboard. Perhaps you could do this at a MS store if one is nearby. Do you have Fast Startup...

    Compatible USB hubs

I used a Satechi 10-Port USB 3.0 Hub (9 Port USB 3.0 + 1 iPad Charging Port) 5 Volt, 5 Amp from 2013 until it died in 2016 so I got an Amazon Basics 7 Port USB 3.0 Hub with 12V/3A Power Adapter which is still working fine. Both are no longer available on Amazon, but any USB hub should work. I...

    SP 7, My Review

I’ve had my SP7 for 5 months now, and this past week have been using it to telecommute via remote desktop and Zoom. I thought I’d give my review for those thinking of upgrading. Many reviews compare it to the SP6 and complain it’s not much of an upgrade, which is true, but many people would be...

    SP6 i5/8gb/128 vs SP7 i3/4gb/128+type cover

If the SP7 comes with the type cover for $599 it's almost a no brainer, the type cover for the SP6 will cost at least $129.99 from Microsoft. 4GB of RAM is a bit under powered if your kid will be doing any image editing or other intensive task, but for word processing, web browsing and email it...

    SP7 temp

Which processor, core i5 or core i7? When you first have Windows setting itself up it does a lot of things in the background and it takes a day or 2 to settle down. Still if you have the i7 the fan should be running and heard.

    Erratic File Explorer

Sometimes even if you've closed the app that opened the file it is still "in use" by a service and won't let you eject (or move a file or folder) that still "in use". A reboot should solve this. There's also a free app called IObit Unlocker which can show you what's holding something (file...

Really agree with this Surface Pro 7 review

I've been watching as many SP7 review videos as I can find and agree this is a pretty good one. Most complain it's not much of an upgrade from the SP6. Well most of us in the real world don't spend $2000 every year and a half. I upgraded from a SP3 core i7/8GB/256SSD to a SP7 i7/16GB/512SSD and...

WILL A SURFACE PRO OR PRO 2 WORK WITH JUST AC IF BATTERY IS DEAD AT 0 %

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Will keep it in a safe place (like outside away from anything) until I can take it to a MS store, they did say they'd dispose of it for me.

WILL A SURFACE PRO OR PRO 2 WORK WITH JUST AC IF BATTERY IS DEAD AT 0 %

These answers make sense but it's a shame, it means these are truly disposable devices. I have an old SP that doesn't always turn on and a SP3 with swelling and screen separation so they'd no good to give away, but would be nice to be able to use as a back-up, to get on the Web to get answers...

    Which Surface to get?

I too upgraded from the SP3 to this same config SP7. It's a huge upgrade in performance. Don't worry about the SSD space, you can add a mSD card and if you use OneDrive you can choice which files or folders you sync on both and which you leave on OneDrive to save space.

Can Microsoft make a pen that is 100% reliable?

Let it sit plugged in for 20 minutes and try it again. If that doesn't work hold power button in for > 15 seconds, then wait a few seconds and press power button. If that doesn't work try holding power+volume up for > 20 seconds. Even if pen tip is seated in deep and right, others have found...

Surface Pro 7 + older type cover / stylus?

I just upgraded from a SP3 to SP7 and yeah it's much faster. The SP3 type cover works but I can't speak to the fingerprint reader (don't know if the newest version of Windows 10 would use it instead Windows Hello, but I find it works fast and reliable).

Solved Spurious black rectangle appears on screen

Sounds like you might have inadvertently downloaded malware. Do you have Desktop Gadgets? They have countdown timers. Check Task Manager and see if there is a process running that looks suspicious. A list of Windows Processes that are supposed to be running can be found here. Posting a screen...
