Is this only when using those emulators? That may be the issue.

Not sure if you tried, but you can hold down the power button to force it to turn off (perhaps it is working and just won't wake up) and see if it turns on again. Or try charging it a few hours to make sure it didn't drain over night with those updates.

Actually, that's a good idea. I didn't really think about turning it off. I don't need the connected features, since all notifications hit my phone, too. I may have to go back a few pages and try that post to disable it.

I'm curious why you guys went with Avast (over AVG) -- I haven't used them in a while, but do like Comodo and Avira, so often bounce between them.

Agree with the above. Keep a good backup so you can restore your PC. I would go with a free AV (AVG or Avast) and be careful with your web browsing. If you find that it impacts your system performance you can always uninstall it and try out another free AV.
