How hard is it to upgrade the SSD drive in SP3's?

Wow... that is crazy that a microwave oven is involved in disassembling one of these. I don't think I'd try it and I have ripped apart iPhones and MacBooks to replace components. This is a whole other thing!

    Sending Files from OneDrive

That is not where you should have to go to find the sync'd files, so something is still setup incorrectly. I believe that you might have been prompted on where to put the sync'd files when you did the initial setup and might have clicked through.. but I can't imagine that it would have chosen...

How Did You Hear About SurfaceForums.net - The Premier Microsoft Surface Forum?

I am a forum guy... its where I go for help on anything tech. I bought a Surface Pro 4 a couple weeks ago and then hit Google and searched for "surface pro 4 forum".

    Who's getting one?

Just saw this... Microsoft's Surface Pro 5 isn't coming anytime soon Makes it sound like no "new" SurfacePro is forthcoming, although I would think that an update to the latest processors would be in there somewhere.

    Sending Files from OneDrive

On my machine(s), my setup is similar to your folder structure with the green icons showing sync status, except they are folders with sync'd files. If you go to the OneDrive tray icon as was suggested, and right click for Settings, then go to the Account tab and select "Choose Folders", what do...

Microsoft announces the Surface Laptop and Windows 10S

Not being able to run cmd.exe is kind of the point. The majority of computer users have no idea what that is and have no need for it. You are not the target audience for this new OS. Honestly, I've not done anything on the command line in Windows in many years myself, but I would want the...

    Problem with OneNote

OneNote App and OneNote 2016 are two different applications that can use the same notebooks; but they each keep their own sync'd copy of the notebooks. So edit in OneNote App... its syncs to OneDrive first... then OneNote 2016 syncs it ; and same in reverse. I had a situation last week where...

    Who's getting one?

I'm in kind of a bad spot for that new event that might be SP5. I bought my SP4 on 4/21 and I believe the event is scheduled for 5/21, which is just past the return period. I guess I'll watch the rumor mill leading up to it and decide if I want to go through the hassle of returning and...

Weird problem with OneNote App on SP4

Thanks... I was aware of that. I don't want it to always go to the same place. my problem was it was in the Recent Notes view and didn't realize I could pick a notebook.

    Who's getting one?

I have not done enough traveling with the SP4 to assess battery life, but I also have always traveled with an external battery pack for recharging when I go on long haul flights. So while it would be better to have a few more hours of life, I can usually get a recharge where I'm at through the...

Microsoft Announces Surface Event in Shanghai on May 23

Decisions, decisions... I am in my return period for my SP4 and now this. I think I may just hold with this because I like it and would be able to avoid the new platform bugs that always haunt.

Solved Surface Dock Updater in a loop

Power cycling the dock and then updating one more time seems to have solved the problem. Thanks for getting me out of Groundhog Day!

Solved Windows 10 - missing icons in Start menu tiles

The strange thing was that first they were all messed up... then it was all the ones that did not load from the App Store... now all is good. Glad I didn't go off trying the many "solutions" I found via Google that probably would have hosed up things permanently!

Microsoft announces the Surface Laptop and Windows 10S

I too think we'll see cheap Windows 10 S machines from other vendors. The same machines they sell as Chromebooks that have Intel and 4G of RAM can run it, and they sell for about $250. Just depends on how much Microsoft will OEM the license for to those guys. I would guess they will make it...

    Who's getting one?

I am a long time Mac user, and just bought a SP4. I love the thing and would recommend that approach. If you do consulting, there are a lot of things the SP4 would give you as benefit... ability to work on a plane during takeoff and landing... using as a tablet to present... pen input into...

Microsoft announces the Surface Laptop and Windows 10S

Apple is not forcing anyone to buy anything and neither is Microsoft. You are arguing about something that clearly isn't targeted at you as a customer. I would dare say none of the target customers for this product are on a Surface forum. The OS is targeted at K-12 schools for administrators...

Solved Surface Dock Updater in a loop

I just downloaded the Surface Dock Updater and ran it. It said my dock was out of date... ran through an update... asked me to disconnect for a period while the light flashed... then told me to reconnect. Then it said I was out of date and did it again. Did this about 5-6 times and finally...

Microsoft announces the Surface Laptop and Windows 10S

And there is an option, at least for now, to upgrade to full Windows 10 for free. Options are good and having spent a lot of time in the Apple walled garden, I like having the choice.

Solved Windows 10 - missing icons in Start menu tiles

One other tidbit of information is it seems that only applications installed outside of the App Store are now showing missing icons. Last night there were some of both.
