Solved SP3 MS Complete Care Issue

Well, proof of payment for Complete Care sent nearly two weeks ago and no word from MS. Sent an email inquiring to the MS person I last had email from, but no return email from her either. Guess I'll wait until the middle of next week. If no contact by then, I'll have to start rattling cages at...

    Stability and Reliability

Good comments from all. Aside from the issues and problems I've experienced with the SB (and SP3's for that matter) that may get better with time, or disappear altogether, I've finally come to terms more realistically with my needs. I'm not an artist, and I don't go to many meetings as some, so...

58% drain on Connected Standby over 8 hours

I have to go with Thurrott on this one. This mess with the Surface line in general isn't about consumers complaining about their preference of color for the type cover not being available. It's about a company deciding to put hardware on the market that is not stable and reliable as a matter of...

SurfaceBook with Surface dock and two external displays

No, your monitors are not 4k. Whether both will work through your dock depends on different variables. You'll have to give it a try to see what happens. I have one 32" hooked through my new dock to my Surface Book, and it works fine. I have two 24" monitors that I had with my SP3 with dock, and...

    Firmware Update 2 Dec

Well...at least your information gives us a little better picture of the primary underlying issue... I think my issue now comes down to whether I want to try to stick it out (presumably past my return date) to see if software/firmware patches make all things right, or return my Book before my...

    Stability and Reliability

I hadn't really thought about other devices having most of the same issues as MS devices. I do realize that W10 is the source for some of these problems. Do you all believe that if I returned my SB for another "similar" device that I would still be dealing with the same tidal wave of issues with...

    Stability and Reliability

Well, I had my first BSOD after the latest updates. I changed my sleep setting back when so my Surface Book would go into hibernation faster to save on battery drain. Last night it was on with the lid closed for quite a while. Opened the lid to a black screen (hibernation) so tapped the power...

    Warranty differences for SP4 ?

If you want MS Complete Care, you have to buy it when you buy your Surface...or...take the Surface into a MS Store within 45 days of purchase so they can look at it, then they'll let you buy Complete Care. This is a change in their policy from a year ago when I bought my SP3 from Best Buy then...

    Firmware Update 2 Dec

I have to agree, stability really is king when it comes to tech devices. Techolust for those glitzy items that aren't stable is definitely form over substance...now that I've said that, I have to confess that I have a Surface Book as well (ahem...)

    Previous Windows Applications

No idea really. I remember hearing guys complain about their SP's heating up running MS Sudoku of all things. Seems some code raises Cain with certain OS's. Just the way the apps are coded, not really a reflection on the hardware. Or could be a peculiarity in W10 - there's a lot about W10 that's...

    Good Bag, Thank Goodness

Glad you and your SB are OK!

    Firmware Update 2 Dec

There's always something, it seems. My SB appears to be doing better after the updates. Better scrolling in my browser(s), no DD's yet or BSOD's (yet). I don't detach my clipboard often, but I noticed in the past doing so would sometimes glitch something. Haven't tried it since the...

Solved A Real Head Scratcher - No Sound

Just an update. Since setting up my office with my SP3, dock, external monitor etc I've run the audio cable to my speakers from the monitor - there's a convenient audio-out plug in the back. Everything has worked fine. I got the Surface Book and hooked everything up the same way using the new...

Solved SP3 MS Complete Care Issue

That's what I thought once they cottoned onto the idea that my original SP3 had been replaced. I'm just puzzled why they need some kind of proof of purchase from me to set things straight. I guess I'm bewildered that a company like MS has managed to somehow lose their records of my purchase...

    Mouse/Keyboard interruptions using the dock

I have the SB i5/8/256/dGPU and the dock with all sorts of things connected to it including a large external monitor. I use a BT keyboard with a wireless mouse. I've not experienced any "outages" of the mouse or keyboard while using the dock.

Solved SP3 MS Complete Care Issue

I bought my SP3 on September 4th 2014 from Best Buy locally. Bought MS Complete Care for it through the online MS store on September 7th 2014. In April 2015 the SP3 died - most likely cause was a bricked SSD. Anyway, discussed with MS and they exchanged it. Been using the replacement until I got...

What to do about new SB

Based on the OP's description of how the SB acted, I agree that he has (had) a defective SB. I got mine about 3 weeks ago through Best Buy and I've only had the issues that most have had with their SB's and SP4's.

    USB not recognized

I have a SB and I use a BT keyboard and a wireless mouse with it. I have the new dock hooked up to my SB. The wireless dongle is plugged into one of the USB hubs that's connected to my dock. I also have two USB drives hooked up to my dock as well. I've had no issues (yet) as you've described. I...

Could experienced SB and SP 4 users recommend a Surface for me?

Sounds like the SP4 i7/16/512 is what you need since you want tablet action for extended periods of time. I have a SP3 i5/8/256 and a SB i5/8/256/dGPU at this time. As you commented, the SB has the clipboard, but probably no more than about 3 hours away from the plug and perhaps less depending...

Glad I decided to keep my Surface Book

When I got my SB, it had zero issues. After one of the updates (don't recall if it was W10 or firmware) it started acting as many have described. A few more updates and it's doing better, but it's not out of the woods yet by any means. Seems it's the same with the SP4 according to those threads...
