Got it today, after two hours stuck at 25% the update continued after removing the micro sd card. Go and figure.

I think that the message is misleading because there is nothing that can be done there in this particular case.

You don't need to reboot, just open the battery bay like you do if you are going to replace the battery of your pen and close it again. That has fixed the issue for me on the past.

By the way, I just learned that YouTube streams to Chrome in a codec that does not use Graphic Acceleration and as result consume more CPU. The solution is to get this extension H264ify

Added one more recommendation Disable WiFi while in sleep. By default, your Surface stays connected to WiFi while it's asleep. Turn this off by going to Settings->Power & Sleep->WiFi

The answer is Yes. Specially Chrome. Cortana is learning from your habits and indexing your info to make searches faster. Chrome is and has been always a battery sucker.

I have the issues described by you on Facebook page. No big deal to me. Those issues are not present if you use the App but I have noticed that Facebook is a battery sucker.
