It will work on SP3, but only as eraser and perhaps better ergonomics. The increase in pressure levels on the SP4 is due to the co-processor built into the digitizer, which you won't notice anything on the SP3 (obviously).

I didn't like the SP3-specific dock, but really like the SP4 (compatible with SP3) version and may get it when it drops down in price a bit.

You probably need good lighting conditions for the SP4 to see your image. It's not like a magic camera that can log you in a room with no lights on.

dGPU in Surface Book will allow slightly better, but it won't be anything like desktop or dedicated gaming laptops. NOTHING like it.
