    Official Windows 10 Insiders thread

Wynand -- Sorry, but I'm no help. I just clicked Retry and went off to do other stuff. When I came back, it asked for a Restart and then it installed without incident. I am not aware of anything I did to encourage it. Good luck, Russ

    Official Windows 10 Insiders thread

Wynand -- After reading your post, I checked on my Shop machine and found that it had installed 16226 overnight. I came back to this machine, the one with the update problem, clicked on the Retry button in Update, and Voila!, it is installing 16226 as I write this. I didn't do anything other...

    Official Windows 10 Insiders thread

Sharp -- My Shop computer accepted the update in the dark of night, and I have, thus far, seen no anomalies. My other computer simply reports "There were problems installing some updates, . . .." and stops right there. I shall return to my embroidery. (Paraphrasing the King in Braveheart.)...

    Official Windows 10 Insiders thread

The Windows Update page cites Error 0x80070057. If I go to View Installed Update History, it cites Failed to install on ‎6/‎13/‎2017 - 0x80240034. Both of those numbers are consistent and repetitive. Again, I think there are enough instances of the problem to attract Microsoft's attention, so...

Problems with Build 16215-1000. One one machine I get this message: There were problems installing some updates, . . .. Windows 10 Insider Preview 16215.1000 (rs_prerelease) - Error 0x80070057 I am now down to just two machines on Insider Ring. I pulled the others off after the last...

    Bluetooth Mouse Not Connecting

Bubba -- Well, I could try Shanghai. Ladyfriend owns a condo there. I had not considered the proximity issue until Sharp mentioned it. In that part of the house, there are two desktops, plus my router and other network stuff, including a 2.4 repeater so I can use my SPro out by the swing. (I...

    Bluetooth Mouse Not Connecting

Sharp -- Actually, I don't know. All of my experiments were done in a spare office that I set up for her here, and it did not occur to me to try it elsewhere. That is a busy area of the house, because just down the hall is my office where my router lives, along with other computer equipment...

    Bluetooth Mouse Not Connecting

Small, albeit puzzling progress. The three mice I was using are (all Microsoft): Sculpt Touch Mouse, Designer Bluetooth Mouse and the Notebook Mouse 5000. I downloaded the SurfaceDiagnosticToolkit and ran the Bluetooth test. It found one mouse -- the Sculpt Touch mouse. After exiting the...

Surface Pro 3, Win10 Pro, 1703/15063, Marvell Avastar Driver 15.68.9112.23 (also tried two previous versions + Generic) Virus scan negative Three different mice -- all of which work on other devices Problem was present before OS upgrade. It was present before she took it to China, but I...

    Help needed connecting devices

FarmMom -- There is not a "one size fits all" rule, or, if there is one, I haven't found it yet. It will vary by device and, in my case, even by computer. When I plug my Windows phone into my "Main computer," it is immediately recognized. When I plug into my "Shop computer" (both Intel...

    Creators Update Silence?

Seaboss -- Glad you got it fixed. Take care, Russ

Solved Your windows license will expire soon

Seaboss -- Have you been on the Windows Insider program? That is the only way you should be receiving updates with expiration dates. The last major update was a production update, and has no expiration. Run WINVER and note the data reported. Post back the: - Version Number & Build Number -...

After Update, WINVER reports old version

I used Media Creation Tool to update my three machines not on the Insider Program. Updates were uneventful. WINVER apparently didn't get the memo -- it continues to report Version 1607 (Build 14393) instead of Version 1703. Probably not the end of the world as we know it, just interesting...

Invasion of the Release Preview - Creators Update Ver1703 Build 15063.11

Sharp -- I think your suggestion is highly probable. I have four machines on Fast Ring. Of those, three are always on -- day or night -- so will have received all updates. I have had no issues with these machines. The fourth is one that I set up for my Ladyfriend to use when she is here...

Invasion of the Release Preview - Creators Update Ver1703 Build 15063.11

Sharp -- I'm doing this on my desktop. My SPro is not on the insider program, and the SPro3 is currently in China. "Creators Update" will be RTM by the time I get my hands on it again. Thanks, Russ

Invasion of the Release Preview - Creators Update Ver1703 Build 15063.11

Sharp -- Build 15063.11 Floating the cursor over the set aside tabs highlights each one and displays its title, but that is all. No scrolling either with mouse or cursor keys. Just FYI. It's not an issue for me. Russ

Invasion of the Release Preview - Creators Update Ver1703 Build 15063.11

Greyfox -- I had not previously used the Tab Management feature, so I tried it. I can set aside and restore tabs. I can restore them individually or all at once. However, the "set aside" box shows only 4 1/2 tabs that are set aside. The only way I can see the overflow is to restore them...

Invasion of the Release Preview - Creators Update Ver1703 Build 15063.11

Greyfox -- I have four desktop machines on the Fast Ring. Three are currently running 15063.11 and one is running 15063.0 -- all without incident. Anything specific you would like me to look at? Good luck, Russ

    Official Windows 10 Insiders thread

It should have been, but it's not a machine I use often. It's mostly there for my Ladyfriend when she visits. I'm not going to chase the problem. I will just swap in a drive cloned from one of the other three machines. Like yours, they are running smoothly. Thanks, Russ
