    Custom Fan to Reduce Throttling

I will when I'm done. Planning on making it available to all my fellow SP3'ers!

    Custom Fan to Reduce Throttling

I have been working on a 3D printed fan that will help reduce thermal and power limit throttling. It is powered by usb and can be plugged into the SP3. It simply and clips onto the side of the SP3 and can be used with the dock (I don't have a dock but using pics from the web I made sure it...

Stop the Distraction - Block all tweaking with XTU

GreyFox would you mind pointing us to these posts/articles that have caused this "blaze"?

Stop the Distraction - Block all tweaking with XTU

Unless you work for MS why do you care? If you don't like the articles or forum posts, don't read them. Let MS deal with it. They have a whole marketing and legal team for that. I for one buy a PC because it provides this kind freedom. Remove this freedom and they will remove a significant...

    Solved i5 users with XTU

I am seeing the same issue. Only in 3d mark will my GPU go above 599 but only for a short burst. I started a thread on the MS help forum. You should post your concern there.

    Solved i5 users with XTU

Not really sure what you mean here. The max clock of the i7 CPU is 3.3GHz and the max clock of the i7 GPU is 1.1GHz. Unless you are overcloking, your GPU never got to 1.2GHz unless you mean CPU. The issue is that the i7 GPU never seems to run higher than 599MHz. XTU is not promoting any...

    Solved i5 users with XTU

Actually what you are seeing is the instantaneous frequency when the screenshot was taken which was most likely at idle (599MHz). If you look at the graphs it's clear that the i5's see freq's well over 600 while the i7 does not.

Would you be upset if I requested i7 users as well? I have an i7 and here are my results:

I'm working on this which will fit with the dock.

That's just the reading at the moment the screenshot was taken. If you look at the lines of the graphs corresponding to GPU Freq then you'll see that the i7 stays at 599 or less while the i5 consistently goes over 600.

Not to hijack this thread but I posted the low GPU speeds for i7's issue on the MS community forums here. Add you two cents and maybe we can get MS to respond or at least stealth fix the problem.

So apparently there was no real firmware update but my computer decided to install the 8-19 update again and that fubar-ed a bunch of things. So if you see that in windows update again don't install.

Yep, going to make some more changes. Right now it blocks the usb and display ports on the side. I will have to at least open up acess to the usb.

I just ran a few tests using the firmware update from today and things look much worse. Firestrike dropped about 100 points and throttling has changed again, but for the worse as well.

Everything I've tried with ThrottleStop has not worked. Throttling still happens even with ThrottleStop on. On a different note I have created a fan to mitigate power throttling and it seems to be working. I tried placing it in different places but thanks to cbutters and his video I placed it...

    Firmware changes affecting Throttling

Check this thread, I've been posting my test runs there...the throttling does seem to be lessened.
