It depends on what you mean by "air flow test" but yes I have. I have tried moving the fan to multiple different locations along the top and I have watch this video which explicitly states how the internal fan works. Also, placing your hand around the edge while the internal fan is spun up...
Just pulled the newest fan off the printer. I added more clearance for the DP and some flow ribs:
Here is an XTU GPU test run:
This is really tough to read but I super-imposed the first DP duct and the newest one:
What i take from that jumbled mess is that the newest duct is working...
I just realized that it may not be clear from my pictures or OP but the SP3 Duct is not blowing air on the back of the SP3 but into the vent holes on the side. This is a key difference between the Arctic Breeze fan and the one Flow28 posted and the SP3 Duct.
I'll update the OP to clarify.
Nice! This is what I like to see, the community coming together to solve a problem/feature (depends on how you look at it). You should post a XTU graph of the GPU for 10 min or so for comparison.
I've noticed that under the GPU test the CPU never goes over 1.7GHz but will drop if throttled...
Here is a test run with the new fan that has access to the mini display-port:
Definitely less thermal and power throttling with the SP3 Duct. Also, this test was done at my home with ambient at around 78F.
The only thing stopping me from uploading the SP3 Duct with the mini-display port is...
A USB extender would most definitely work but since the hub was only $5 with shipping and provides extra ports I thought it would be more useful. But this is also why I made this whole thing modular so that if you have no need for the USB hub then don't get it.
You beat me to posting the...
To answer your questions Justin6, the black thing with the smiley face is not a batter pack but a usb hub and yes the power port has a USB plug but when I use the power cord the brick is not close enough to use.
Currently the SP3 Duct does cover the display port but I am working on a version...
The irony here is that just because it's "newer" doesn't mean it's "better". I'm just saying that things change from build to build but that doesn't guarantee the product is "better". But, yes, hopefully and we must trust that bugs and problems are getting squashed from version to version.
I work as an industrial designer and create professional/consumer products and this very well could be the case. MS would place an order for, let's say, 300k units based on pre-orders and projections which gives them enough time to make any changes found in the initial builds and place the next...
I play ftl all the time and it runs perfectly. I also play more graphically intense games, Skyrim, Mount & Blade which I use this for. You can even run Genymotion at a lower rest (say nexus 5) and do some android gaming.
I hope this response is not taken as angry or upset because I am neither, but confused and concerned.
I don't understand posts like this...really what is the point? I appreciate your opinion and respect your choice but what are you trying to say? That I'm wasting my time? Or worse that I'm...
Dajackal9999 could you run a XTU graphics test with your fan for about 15 min and post the graph of the results?
Here is a screenshot of my skinnied-up design to reduce cost:
I've carved out $5 but now I need to print one and test it. I'll be back!
Oh, and I plan on doing the same to the...
You should be able to play these games just fine, even when throttling kicks in. Here's a video of the sp2 playing AoE 3. Just set things on low and set the rest lower and you should be good.
