All my updates are done while docked since I'm connected through Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.

I have the same issue, going to sleep in the dock requires way too long time to wake up. I solved it by turning off sleep when powered.

If you delete and reinstall it in Bluetooth you need to re-pair the pen to the Surface.

Well, it kind of depends on your work and things like that. I take a fair amount of notes and having OneNote on both my phone (Galaxy Note 3) and my Surface Pro 3 makes that both easy and smooth.

I think I read that article, very balanced. The Type Cover is fine for business writing. A one page memo, e-mails, proposals, order sheets, and things like that is no problem. For a journalist or prolific writer, like yourself, it certainly has a limit. My own is about two pages, anything beyond...

But the thing it's that the pen ribbon appears when touching the area with a stylus, it is just greyed out. Why make the ribbon available if you can't use it. Doesn't make sense to me, but maybe I'm just daft.

I just tried inking in an Outlook calendar appointment but the pen options were all grayed out. Han anyone been able to ink directly in an appointment?

Tried it but [email protected] rejected it. Postscript It was rejected because of a typo in mail address, not because of the ink. [emoji51]

Ok, I didn't look it over, but if Microsoft is going to put a no zoom camera in there at least adjust the focus to be on an A4/Letter size page for OCR work. After ask they are positioning the machine as the productive alternative to an iPad/MacBook combination.

What kind of crapware, and how can you get rid of it?

Yes, the Universal Foldable Keyboard seems to be a well thought out solution, price and lack of backlighting puts a little hamper on it though IMO.

How about the paid version? The Windows version is kind of mentally challenged compared to the Android version today I use the most, and I can't say that I've been blocked in the paid version. But I'm not sure if there is a pay alternative for Windows.

I have both, and the Thin Mouse is excellent as a mobile accessory, but not so much as a work mouse, this is were the Sculpt Mouse shines.
