Yeps, both are on the same build - 10586.14 Version 1511. The only difference is that the S3 is on Windows 10 Home while the SP3 is on Windows 10 Pro.

Hi...none that I know of or have found. Sorry. Even on the iPad Air that I used to use earlier, I had two apps for each of the file formats. I used PDF Expert (for PDF) and iBooks (for ePUB).

Well for PDF, you have a number of options - the most recommended is Drawboard PDF. But there are other options like Xodo and Foxit, among others. Personally, I use Drawboard PDF because I annotate my PDFs a lot and it has been stable. Xodo is also quite good. For ePub, again there are options...

Did the update and thus far have experienced no negatives. But I find that the Surface app (edit) - to calibrate the Pen - does not work for me on the S3. It says that the app can't find the device driver. But otherwise, it seems fine.

But does this mean that for someone (like the OP) who has minimal needs - Office and browsing - the SP3 (kitted out with the new Pen and Type Cover) is a more cost effective option? The difference between the processors - for a normal workload - would not really be significant would it?

My SP3 has the fan running nowadays quite regularly. Been happening since the upgrade to W10. It warms up too but not too much. I have also noticed that battery life is quite a bit less with W10 as compared to W8.1. Maybe the two things are connected. Edit: And display driver crashing quite...
