Probably related more to the hub or the controller. I've used a usb hub for a mouse and my 2TB Seagate slim drive and both work. YMMV. I don't know how to supply additional power to USB port.

Makes sense. My benchmark: before the update, my SP3 i7 sometimes would pause video in the preview window of Adobe Premiere on 1080p video. After the update, it doesn't.

Throttling issues is an overhyped concept trumpeted by people looking for reasons to dislike the SP3? Ask yourself this: Does a MacBook throttle? Does a Yoga throttle? Does an iPad throttle? Does a Galaxy Note throttle? The answer to all of those is yes. The SP3 throttles. Desktops don't...or do...

The i3 has a different "graphics card". Performance has increased on my i7.

No my tip was to let the SP3 finish what it's doing and then you won't have to worry about it for a while. The more you interrupt it, the longer it will take to finish. Again, this is just a guess but it seems to work for me. Notice that when it happens and you view the task manager it stops...

idk. On my Seagate 2TB external slim speeds are 100mbps and it is not powered.

I don't think a reset will help. I believe it is a process that runs periodically to scan or clean up your systems and it pauses it when you are using it.

Same thing happened to me.

I really think everyone experiences this issue as the SP3 is doing windows maintenance/scanning. Just let it finish OR when you decide to use it, the SP3 will pause it until you finish. The update is just a coincidence IMO.

Hyper V is probably the culprit. I have it enabled.
