    Netgear AC1900 R7000

You may want to consider installing the Kong DD-WRT (or Tomato) firmware. The stock firmware is incredibly buggy. I am still running the stock FW only because I am just using it as an AP and DLNA server (and I still have restart it every couple of weeks) and the third party firmwares causes...

Sort of surprised about cpu throttling down under load

And the majority could be served equally well by a WinRT device. The Surface Pro line is marketed as a tablet that can do more for more people. The SP3 is failing in this regard. Yes, the "it works for me so there is no problem" discussions are tiresome. I do have an SP2 (and an SP1).

Sort of surprised about cpu throttling down under load

To be fair, given the challenges of cramming a laptop into a tablet form factor, there need to be some compromises. Unfortunately, I think that MS compromised too much to chase the iPad. The only time anyone will notice the few mm difference is in review photos comparing the thickness to that...

    Exchanged SP1 128 with SP3 256-i7 at Microsoft Store

Sort of surprised about cpu throttling down under load

How about adding a little perspective to "your way" By 4mm By 100g Debatable. The size/aspect often comes down to preference. Using thinner glass compromised by holes seems to have been a mistake. It should have been able to at least hold its own against the SP2 Your point by point...

    Exchanged SP1 128 with SP3 256-i7 at Microsoft Store

Well, I officially hate you...;) I still can't get a satisfactory replacement for my faulty SP2 - after six months and three replacements... I am not even angling for an SP3 and if offered one I would still opt for an SP2... Of course, I don't live near an MS store and I am stuck with dealing...

    Battery dying overnight

Well, it is not unprecedented for the SP2 to spontaneously wake and not go back to sleep. There was a period of "bad" firmwares that would cause some SP2s to wake when transitioning from sleep to hibernation. I was not able to enable hibernation (and have it function reliably) until about...

Wiindows 8.x and Things I Miss

But, but... With Metro, you can, like, run, like, two apps at once... I mean, c'mon dude, that is so groovy... I have never been able to do that before Metro came along.

    SP3 i7 heats up during I/O

Again, not true. I realize that you are desperate to frame this as only a "gamer" issue but such misinformation serves no one (except, perhaps, Microsoft). The SP3 is unable to sufficiently dissipate heat from the unit. The main source of heat is the CPU die which contains both the GPU and CPU...

Looking for a keyboard which includes numeric keys

While it is designed with an Apple aesthetic, it is just a bluetooth device. The description says that it works with bluetooth enabled Macs and PCs. I don't have any experience with the device, but I can't see why it wouldn't work with the SP3.

Looking for a keyboard which includes numeric keys

How about a dedicated bluetooth numeric keypad that doubles as a standalone calculator. I have no personal experience with it, but it looks interesting. http://www.amazon.com/Satechi-Bluetooth-Wireless-Keypad-MacBook/dp/B00CJKW4WQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1408003492&sr=1-2

    Surface Care Team doesn't care

Well, this forum is rather dead since the SP3's release. Perhaps it time for another non-update on my never ending ordeal. After several truly unproductive exchanges with Daniel, it is clear that getting a new SP2 is just not going to happen (regardless of how badly they screwed up over the...

    Waiting for SP3...

I have a 64GB Samsung UHS-I card in my SP2 and I get 60+MB/s reads and writes top out at about 18MB/s.

    WiFi fix coming in September

Well, it took eight months to fix the wide spread "SD card/high CPU usage" problem on the SP2.

    Cooling Pad Benchmark SP3 I5

NO! NO! NO! The SP3 is not a gaming machine! Tsk... tsk... tsk..;)

please help convince me to buy SP3

You mentioned "intensive calculation programs". If those programs require high CPU usage for more than a few minutes, you will run into the same throttling issues as the video editors and gamers. Any sustained high CPU usage will invoke the aggressive throttling. Also, the i7 really offers...

Worth Purchasing Discounted Pro 2 Now?

If you are happy with the SP2 form factor, then there really is no reason to get the SP3. I don't really see the SP3 as replacing the SP2 but rather an alternative form factor. The CPU/GPU are the same, but due to inadequate cooling in the SP3, it will perform worse than the SP2 at CPU...

3DMarks Scores of Surface Pro 3 Models (i3/i5/i7)

Hmmmmm... Encoding videos, batch converting RAW files, compiling large projects, optical design software... Just a few processor intensive tasks that would likely invoke the aggressive throttling of the SP3. Enough for you to see the the design flaw of the SP3? The video clearly demonstrates...

3DMarks Scores of Surface Pro 3 Models (i3/i5/i7)

I never said that the SP3 does not outperform the iPad. What I did say is that many who have bought into the SP3 would likely have their needs met by an IOS or Android device. Those users, of course, have no use for extra performance.

3DMarks Scores of Surface Pro 3 Models (i3/i5/i7)

Did I say "gamers"? By other user, I meant anyone who requires sustained CPU performance... Unfortunately, what I think is supported by evidence whereas your opinions - not so much..
