I would say that is almost definitely the problem. On both of my chargers (SP1 and SP2), the outermost pins actually extend slightly past the flat surface of the connector.

Perhaps you should take your own advice, because this is just not true (and I am comparing the SP3 to the 4300u SP2). The SP2 will outperform the SP3 in application requiring SUSTAINED CPU usage - this has been shown numerous times in the SP3 forum. And I have never heard of on SP2...

I don't know how invested you are in using Windows File File History. Personally, I am not too fond of the included Windows backup tools. For file level backups, I rather like FreeFileSync. It is relatively easy to use and it gives good control over how and where your files are backed up.

To those who wonder if they should get an SP3, I recommend seriously looking at the SP2. The SP3's only real advantage over the SP2 is the screen size (which might actually be a disadvantage to some). The SP2 has the same CPU (i5 versions), but better cooling, so better sustained performance...

I have used both Seagate and WD and I have not had issues with either.

The SP3 is still relatively new so long term durability is still unknown. The SP3 does use thinner glass for the screen than its predecessors and there have been several reports of the screen cracking from the microphone hole. Video encoding will likely result in throttling and take longer...

I have already updated my r7000 with the latest firmware and time will tell if it is more stable. I don't have much hope as there was no mention in the release notes of fixing my particular issue.
