I have a similar issue... I have the i7 surface pro 3 and the usb port connects and disconnects when using my external seagate 2tb hard drive. It doesn't do it when using the phone to transfer files. So it could either be a faulty port, or the power it's shooting out?

I do think the better choice is sp3 i7, but it's a matter of preference and budget. I don't have over heating issues, but like all devices it will warm up with heavy use.

All know is the following... when I had it on my batter was at 1.5 left to dead then when I turned it off, it bumped it up to 6.5 hours left.

Well I got my update about 2 weeks ago, so not sure how long to wait.

So I noticed after the win10 update, my batter meter showed I was draining fast. I found out that Windows Defender made it do that. I since then I turned it off and it literally went from 1.5 hours left to 6.5 hours left of life. Insane!

I get that but it's a lot less thickness and material which to me justifies the cost of the UAG case.
