    surface pro 3 i5 or i7

I got the i5/4/128 a little over a week ago, moved up from a Surface 2. I picked that model because, quite frankly, it was what I could afford. I could have opted for the i3 model and saved $200 but I felt the SSD was too small and was afraid I would regret the decision. I was an early...

Solved The tablet that can replace your laptop - It is not a lie!

I just spent a week on the road with my new i5 128GB (it just replaced my Surface 2). It was my sole machine for Word and Excel document creation, and email with Outlook (personal) and Outlook Web App (work). In the evening, during down time in the motel room, I would watch either Netflix or...

    Surface Pro 4 - wishlists!

It threw me at first until I looked at the date of the articles (both Aug 2). Old news, or should I say "conjecture"?

Who Loves their SP3 - Positivity Thread

I finally made the leap last Friday and picked up the i5 128GB and Type Cover from Best Buy. I have resisted the "Pro" urge since I pre-ordered my RT a couple of Octobers ago because the RT was meeting all my needs (I did trade up to the Surface 2 several months ago, and it is definitely worth...

Advantages of upgrading to Surface 2 (from first gen Surface RT)

I think krystalsoldier summed up the advantages pretty nicely as that has been my experience since I upgraded from the RT to the S2 (it's amazing to me how such subtle changes in the weight and thickness and feel so apparent). One other improvement I haven't seen mentioned is the upgrade from...

What does the Touch cover feel like

I had been using the touch cover since the RT was first released, and as a touch typist I found it to be challenging at times (but usable). I upgraded to the type cover a couple of months ago and am really impressed with the difference. The touch cover just got ebayed along with my trusty RT...

    Why a Microsoft Surface?

I have a 15" work laptop available to me for travel purposes (I'm on the road a lot) but it stays docked on my desk. Since the RTs come with Office and I can access all my work email through the Outlook Web App there is simply no need to carry around a heavier device. May I ask which cover...

    Why a Microsoft Surface?

I'm replying to my own post because I changed my mind and upgraded to the Surface 2. After I had a chance to play with one I decided the enhancements were worth it so I picked up a used 32GB model from an Amazon reseller. I still can't justify one of the Pro versions, not as long as the...

    A bit of a dilemma

A couple of weeks ago I purchased a "like new" Surface 2 32GB from an Amazon reseller and am in the process of ebaying the RT I've had since it was released. Due to the improved performance, screen resolution, and USB 3.0 support I'm really glad I finally made the move. I bring this up...

    Disapointed with Surface video streaming

I use Handbrake (free, and great) to rip movies to the mp4 format and they stream and play flawlessly on my RT. I do the ripping on my desktop computer, connect via our home network, and use the Microsoft movie app on the RT.

    Why a Microsoft Surface?

I had a Windows 7 phone prior to the purchase of my RT so I was already comfortable with the tiled interface. I opted for the RT because I needed a work tablet that would travel well, and it came with the software I need to do my job (primarily Powerpoint, Word, and Excel, and I was a happy...

Hows the Surface RT running these days?

It's running great. Immediately following the update from Preview to 8.1 some of us were experiencing low battery life issues but that is now resolved. I've had the Surface RT since it was released last October and am still very pleased with it. Too pleased, actually: I can't justify moving...

Power/ Battery issues with Win 8.1 RT

I too noticed excessive battery drain. I ran powercfg /energy and came up with the same errors the others were reporting on your link. I hope MS is aware of this problem and has a fix in the works.

Surface2 Deal Breaker Feature - microSD slot supports up to only 2GB of extra storage

I just copied this from the Microsoft Surface 2 page: Tons of Ports Bring your entire media collection with you wherever you go. A microSD card reader lets you add up to 64 GB of extra storage. Show off everything on the big screen using the video out port . A full-size USB 3.0 port and...

Did You Know That Hiding Under Kickstand of RT is a MicroSD Card Reader?

I'm the same way, so I read every review and article I could find on the RT before I pre-ordered it last October. I had a 64GB card in the mail at the same time. :)

    No Pop3

This is correct. I'm running 8.1 preview with Outlook and it does have POP3 support. Nice addition. :)

Advice for using Surface RT as media consumption device

I've had mine since last October and I think it is an excellent media consumption device (not bad at content creation either). Netflix looks great, and I use Multimedia8 to watch movies that I rip with Handbrake (which also look great); I do the ripping on my desktop PC. I also use mine daily...

    How strong is your loyalty!?

I'm pretty much a straight up Microsoft fan. I use IE, I run Windows 7 and 8 on the desktops in our home and RT on my Surface, and I have a Nokia 900 with wp7. I game on my desktop and don't have a console but if I bought one it would be the Xbox now that it comes with a Blu-ray player. I'm...
