    Triple the WIFI Performance?

I've only got 2 real issues stopping me from ordering the SP3. One is the keyboard/lapability thing (maybe that isn't an issue -going to try one at the local store). The other is the wifi thing. I have NO desire to go through with the 3, what I went through with the SP1, having bought right...

Anyone had (very slight) Wi-Fi issues since the latest update?

I've seen it. To be honest, I blamed my Internet provider.

    core i3 vs Atom

In my house, on my couch, it takes the same time for my kindle fire 8.9 hdx Snapdragon 800 to render a page as my Surface Pro 1 i5-3317u. The Fire hdx has been measured at a sunspider time of 692 ms. The surface pro at 150 ms. Other older devices are noticeably slower. The Atom z3770 has...

    Triple the WIFI Performance?

Well since the limiting internet factor on my SP1 has always been the Marvell chip/radios/antenna array wifi subsystem (not sure about my wife's 2 - she won't use it because of the floppy keyboard/easel arrangements) I was searching to find out if they improved the antennas/wifi system given the...

    Triple the WIFI Performance?

"Two things come into play here....". This is IRT the performance issues of generations 1 & 2, and the bluetooth/wifi EMC/EMI/EMR issues (I see and cause me to not use BT), right? To me, looks like this is saying the SP3 delivers approximately twice the performance of a 1 or 2 in the same...

    Triple the WIFI Performance?

Is this true? Surface Pro 3: A PC in Tablet's Clothing Anybody reported seeing it? Be nice if the bluetooth interferes with wifi issue isn't in the SP3 too.

    core i3 vs Atom

Geekbench results make the SP3 likely to be a whole lot faster than the Thinkpad 10, of course these are complete (different) systems, so storage and memory make a huge difference. The I3 is also 4mb, which is kind of cheating, if you are trying to compare CPUs. If the storage system with the...

    core i3 vs Atom

Hey Kevin, You got data to back that up? Looks to me like they are approximately the same. Intel Z3770 vs Core i3 4020Y I'm getting something. Bought into both Surface Generation 1 and 2 and I'm not sure about 3. Might give up and put both the surfaces on desks and switch to atom tablets...

How to Limit Data when on a cruise

Get a WiFi analyzer app (I use one on my 8.9 Fire HDX so can't speak to one on the surface, but there ought to be one.). The marine satellite bandwidth is so narrow, you can't afford to slow it further with WiFi packet loss. Find the best WiFi signal place on the ship you will be comfortable...

Moko slim-fit cover for the SP is finally out

I went to the Manvex after the Moko and it works better for my purpose but it covers too much of the sides and bottom of the face of the tablet. Got my wife Maroo (purple) for her S2 - much better and classier. Has a surface-like kickstand. Going to replace both the Moko and the Manvex with...

8.1 Killed Text Entry Here on 2 Different SPs

Well, wife's new Surface 2 has the same problem. I'm beginning to suspect 8.1 can't deal with network latency. I've got about double the average for a cable network. Is there a Marvell chip in the Surface 2 Rt? 8.0 on the Pro had no problem.

8.1 Killed Text Entry Here on 2 Different SPs

Moved zero SW from old to new. Three days included babysitting wife migrating from Win 7 to an Win 8.1 Surface 2, a couple of football games, and sundry. Only app I installed was a Kindle reader. Still have not seen this behavior anywhere but on this forum. Think I'll read about others'...

8.1 Killed Text Entry Here on 2 Different SPs

Upgraded my old SP (with long standing wifi stability problems -see other posts) to 8.1. Generally worked ok except for the Google site compatibility problem and gmail loading slowed a lot. Came here to post an update and text entry on screen died. Wouldn't take characters, took them and then...

Upgrading to 8.1 Killed Text Entry Here on 2 Different SPs

I upgraded my old SP to 8.1 and lost the ability to post here. On-screen keyboard flashes and text jumps around, deletes itself etc. I have had long standing WiFi stability issues with that SP and that was the final straw. I made an appointment at the MS store 2 & 1/2 hours away, went...

Microsoft Surface Pro 2 vs Sony Vaio multi flip

I find the SP screen a little small to use with Office, and my familiar toolbars. Trying to decide whether to either convert it to a desktop and either get something bigger and more "lappable" or smaller and lighter, or to upgrade to a SP2 and hope the next version of office fits the form...

    Get Decent WIFI

Quick update: SP developed problems with the Amped adapter over the last 3 weeks. Was stopping communicating with a solid link and without 4-8 times a day. Turned it off and the SP WiFi on and have not lost communications since - a vast improvement over when I bought the Amped adapter in...

Touch Screen Monitor Acer 21.5 Inch Android DA2220HQL

So, how is it working? Considering giving up on the SP as a tablet/mobile device because the WiFi s#@%s so bad (freezes, loses the signal -even with an external adapter pulling in a strong signal, it stops for something WiFi related 4-5 times a day), sticking it in the office next to the router...

    Intermittent and slow WiFi

You can try disabling selective suspend, but it doesn't sound like that to me. Don't have any iPads or iPhones on your network do you? My service went South on several devices when the kids joined the network for the week.

    Get Decent WIFI

Seriously considering abandoning the SP and Windows altogether. My SP is the least reliable computer I have ever owned. I find something like this dongle to work around a clear design defect (they should have recalled many/all of them) and MS destabilizes the workaround with the next update...
