Did you ever get a ship notification? Or it just showed up on your doorstep from MS online store?

My guess is that a lot of us will find out that ours shipped out yesterday or today, but we won't get notifications for a while yet. Their inventory management system is clearly not up to par, those poor customer service reps are probably waiting on some huge batch update from the warehouses.

Nope, not yet. I got my type cover more than two weeks ago, lol, I don't know why they sent it out separately. My guess is that we will get ship notifications today for the i7's. There are several people in the Surface Reddit that already picked up their i7's from the MS Store and benchmarked...

Absolutely get the i7 16GB especially if you are headed for video editing. Along those same lines--get the most internal SSD you can afford.

Here is some early GeekBench benchmarks on the i7-6650U...same as in i7 SP4: core i7-6650U - Geekbench Search - Geekbench Browser Approximately 10% CPU boost over the i5, and also slightly faster on CPU than the i7 in the SurfaceBook.

Trust me I was deeply confused when the type cover shipped early, my guess is that with most preorders they will do the right thing and ship them together. Sometimes, I get the type cover out and play with it just to pretend I have the SP4. Lol

Same here, I am going crazy waiting for my i7, MS shipped me the type cover 2 weeks ago, I look at it longingly as I walk past it every morning The battery life will be fine, for usual tasks... when you are blasting GPU intensive tasks, that is when it will need the juice.
