Is it worth buying the new SP4 type cover to use on my SP3?

Better... A slight improvement in all the features. I really like having a one touch login with the fingerprint reader.

Poll Who's experiencing white flashes during startup/restart?

Considering when the flash is occurring it is obviously the video circuit initializing. It is absolutely nothing to worry about.

Solved That Software Won't Work on a Surface Pro!??

Years and years ago I worked for AOL. While everybody started on phone support if you got a reputation for being one of the top techs you were promoted to Tech Mail. Not always but in general tech support by email is usually going to start out at a higher level than calling a call center.

Anyone else have no interest in upgrading their SP3 to Win 10?

I don't get it. I have Windows 8 on my SP3, a work laptop (touch) and my work desktop (not touch). I have Windows 7 on my home desktop and laptop. On one level the two o/s are very different (visually) but on another level the differences are totally superficial. It literally took me less...

Poll Should Microsoft let us modify Surface 2 if they definiety kill it ?

Microsoft isn't stopping you from doing what you what with your Surface. Unfortunately this may mean writing your own O/S.

    Once a surface user-always a surface user

Success with underclocking, like overclocking, is going to depend upon your specific CPU. "If" your CPU can run stably at a lower voltage it should run cooler, consume less power, etc. etc. You might experience blue screens and lockups however if it needs the voltage it is not getting by...

Has the surface totally replaced your tablet?

Your argument that html5 (after 4+ years of trying) is finally able to do what Flash has always been able to do in no way discounts the fact that iPads lack the horsepower to run Flash meaning iPads are less powerful than some rather ancient Windows XP machines that can handle Flash easily...

Has the surface totally replaced your tablet?

Than you are aware that html5 has not lived up to expectations which accounts for the survival of Flash despite Apple's predictions. Likewise as per the link I provided above Flash is still used more than Silverlight. Flash does things very well and is cost effective to develop and deploy.

Has the surface totally replaced your tablet?

Of course you are an IT professional and an expert on the subject. You are not merely reciting Apple "sour grape" rationalizations. You of course can name those technologies that have filled the void created by Flashes demise...

Has the surface totally replaced your tablet?

But it's not heavily optimized. Because it's cpu is so weak it is not going to need as much power to run therefore it will run longer on a battery. Hence the moped analogy. A moped has a tiny engine and gets much better gas mileage than a motorcycle. If all you need to do is drive a couple...

Has the surface totally replaced your tablet?

Sour grapes: a good reason; just not a true reason. Flash is still rather common on the internet (http://w3techs.com/technologies/details/cp-flash/all/all) and is hardly obsolete. It does run poorly on the iPad largely because it is sadly underpowered relative to real computers, laptops and...

Has the surface totally replaced your tablet?

The analogy is referring to two-wheeled vehicles. If you want to extend the analogy to four wheeled vehicles than a surface is high performance SUV while an iPad is a Smart (sic) car...

Has the surface totally replaced your tablet?

no way... An iPad is extremely limited to what it can do by it's cpu which has a fraction of the power of an intel processor. It's not even close... It can't even handle Flash without choking and coughing.

Has the surface totally replaced your tablet?

Of course it has replaced my tablets. All the issues of concern you list are insignificant. I find the quality of the apps superior to the apps it replaced on my tablets. I "never" think about the size and weight or cooling or fan noise. It is superior for web-browsing and I have never run...

    Undervolting Revisited

Like a snowflake all cpu's are slightly different. Some will run just fine at less voltage while others will need every bit of the rated voltage. Over-clockers like to increase the voltage and run the cpu at higher clock cycles for increased performance but need extra cooling as the higher...
