Since he mentioned Acronis, I think he is talking about a disk/ system imager. I know going back and forth with 8.1 (without dual booting), Technical Preview, and in particular disk images with builds 9841 and 9860 is driving me crazy.

Version 40.0.2183 dev (64 bit). Chrome's been pretty touch friendly for a couple of months.

Used it a couple days and liked it so much I got rid of the 8.1 partition and installed it as my primary system. Google made Chrome touch screen friendly, so I don't really miss IE (touch). No problems so far.

Classic Shell mouse or trackpad pointer moved to/ off the bottom of a running Metro App, or Metro Start screen, shows an opaque, usable, standard windows taskbar w/ date etc.

Why do you think it's superior to free Classic Shell; tried them both and I prefer the Classic Shell.... I know it's just preferences but free IS free :cool:. http://www.classicshell.net/

I for one, after happily using my Surface 2 Pro to replace my iPad, a couple months ago loaded Win 8.1 Pro on my 2013 MBA as the only OS; no Bootcamp. The more I use it the more I like it.

Will do - but really doubt it will work for me as I have the same problem on 2 devices (RT and PRO2). The only add-on is LastPass .....

..... just did it again when I tried to reply with a quote. Happen randomly when I add icons, pictures, cut and paste. Sometimes it works, sometimes it crashes. Always works on Desktop.

Using Metro IE to reply in forums was driving me crazy with crashes after typing or trying to edit, everything would disappear. Simple solution was bottom tool "view in desktop" for anything other than viewing webpages using IE.

Never said that he didn't have a bad experience. I disagree with his statement that "Apple's support is terrible over the phone". Support will vary a little, he may have had a bad experience with Apple and you may have had a good experience with MS. You both seem to be in the minority here...

I agree with all the others who disagree :D. I've had multiple phone contacts with both Microsoft and Apple Support; and they have been night and day different experiences. Apple phone contacts speak both understandable english and understand their own technology. Microsoft support is hard to...

Actually no point is proven other than a power sensing colored led could be in either charger or device. Apple puts one on the MacBook charger plug, Sony tablet puts it on the Xperia tablet power button. Apple's position also makes sense.

It's the touch screen (tablet) with full computing (laptop) capability that makes it different. On the rare occasion that I now pick up my Macbook Air for the first 10 minutes I use it, half the time I'm poking and swiping the screen :D .....

Barely a bummer and certainly not a horror other than the original 1.9 only working for 7 months; hope the OP get's the working model he wants. Personally, I think the whole 1.6/ 1.9 thing is way over blown.

Have you tried disabling hibernate (In the elevated command prompt, type powercfg -h off and press Enter). The device shuts down and reboots so fast there really is no need for me to ever hibernate it. I think the suspend problem may be the hibernate transition. Since I turned it off I haven't...
