Sorry I misunderstood your post and since you didn't mention specific battery packs assumed you were talking about battery packs in general as FAILED. I have and use 2 different Anker battery packs .......

IMO your opinion only demonstrates different expectations and real world use of an external battery with a computer/tablet. I only would use an A/C source to recharge completely overnight but desire to be able to use my computer/tablet for hours and hours after it has reached 30% or less charge...

My take is most charging problems are most likely a firmware problem that will be fixed. To reduce charging cycles the battery isn't charged when plugged in and the charge is 92% or better. I think although the charging should begin once the battery drops below 92% that doesn't always happen...

Biggest change I found for my power usage was a simple "tweak". I turned off display enable adaptive brightness and just set the brightness to a comfortable level; which for me is 20/40.

Although being told that I either swing my portable electronics by a cord or am so careful I only use them on a desk may have been serious posts, I mistakenly thought they were sarcastic and responded appropriately. I sincerely hope your search for a product that works for you is successful.

God am I ever lucky. I've carried mine on a motorcycle and camped; nothing blew up or caught on fire. Over the two week trip on one charge I probably charged my phone from it 5 or 6 times without incident. Won't do that again! Did I somehow get on the MacRumors forum?????

I'm not going to do the detailed testing you do but since I've used both the batteries: the Anker 2nd Gen Astro E5 16000mAh Portable External Battery works even better for my use. It is physically larger but doesn't heat up when charging and the charging rate seems to be quicker (higher mW)...

And you say this why????? The sky isn't falling. :eek: I've been using / charging phones and tablets for years using USB micro ports and have yet to have a port fail. :cool:

I think the other half of the story is most likely battery heat dissipation. Everything is limited by something, most times for a reason. With no fans or vent holes, quick charging generates a lot of heat, which is arguably a battery's greatest enemy. So far the charging rate hasn't caused...

If you delve into it that charger's rating is probably with multiple ports /devices charging, somewhere it will tell you what the maximum single port rating is and I'd bet it's 3-4 amp; 15-20 watt. That would still be very quick for most devices.

My old eyes weren't reading properly: it was 1,980 charging at 99% now 4,500- 5,800 charging at 88%.
