    SP3 as main developer pc

I absolutely hate having the Home, End, PgUp, and PgDn buttons being integrated into the arrow keys. This is the keyboard I use: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Sculpt-Mobile-Keyboard-T9T-00001/dp/B009KG9K74/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-1&keywords=microsoft+sculpt+mobile+keyboard

    SP3 as main developer pc

Here are my observations using the SP3 (i5, 256gb, 8gb RAM) as a development machine: PRO: - I travel for a work a lot so the lighter weight really does make a difference. My shoulders doesn't ache anymore on LOOOOONG layovers. - It's powerful enough to handle Visual Studio 2012/2013, SQL...

What photo editing program is recommended for Surface Pro 3's HiDPI screen?

I use Paint.NET (http://www.getpaint.net) for my basic photo editing needs. It's free and works well with the SP3 HiDPI display.

Surface Pro 3 + ASUS MB168B+ portable monitor = Ultimate Road Warrior Productivity

The monitor works just fine on my SP1 without issues. However, on my SP3, because the USB port doesn't output enough power, I had to use a dual USB Y to micro-USB cable to split the source. One is plugged into my SP3 while the other is plugged into an external power source (you can use mobile...

Fix for disconnecting/hibernating bluetooth mouse after a short idle time.

Thanks! This is a cool tip to have. I also find that just hitting the Windows key on the keyboard will wake the mouse up as well.

Which surface pro 3 do I get confused

If all you're using the SP3 for is web browsing and Microsoft Office, then the i3 version will be plenty enough. Using that $200 saving between i3 and i5 version, you can also get the Type Cover 3 AND a 64GB microSD card. What do you think your most processor intensive activity would be? That...

Surface Pro 3 + ASUS MB168B+ portable monitor = Ultimate Road Warrior Productivity

I will test to see if this is an issue in the SP3. If it is, looks like i'll need to get a powered USB 3.0 hub.

Surface Pro 3 + ASUS MB168B+ portable monitor = Ultimate Road Warrior Productivity

The Type Cover 3 adds 0.64 lb to the total weight. But since I refuse to pay $130 for that thing, I got the Microsoft Sculpt Mobile Keyboard instead. From the reviews, I think it's a matte TN screen. The majority of the reviews say it's a good screen with good color. So crossing my fingers...

Surface Pro 3 + ASUS MB168B+ portable monitor = Ultimate Road Warrior Productivity

I just ordered the ASUS MB168B+ portable monitor and it should get here by the time my SP3 comes in. While the larger 12" screen is an improvement, I'm still worried it won't be good enough to work on for 8 hours a day. My biggest complaint about the SP1 was the screen size. But with the...

Any idea if the larger screen will require more ram? will 128/i5/4gb be too slow?

Microsoft Office run just fine on my Dell Venue 8 Pro which has an Intel Atom processor with 2GB ram. I don't foresee any issue with the SP3 doing the same even with the higher resolution.

    SP3 Reviews

As a developer, I don't really put much emphasis on tech journalist reviews. Yes, I still read them but really only to get battery life comparison between the various laptops/tablets available in the market. I still remember reading one review where the reviewer dock points from the laptop for...

Can I use surface pro as a music player on the road ,and not burn it?

You have to remember that the Surface Pro is still a PC so it has a fan and need to vent. With that said, I'm not sure if streaming LOCAL music through Bluetooth can be consider CPU intensive so the fan might not even kick in. In my opinion (take it with a grain of salt), there will be heat but...

    OFFICIAL I pre-ordered my Surface Pro 3

Who is pre-ordering? And which model are you pre-ordering?

I agree 110%! $60 for a freaking bluetooth adapater that clips onto the keyboard cover. A bluetooth keyboard is cheaper than that.

    Windows 8.1 on Surface Pro

On Windows 8, I did the registry hack to get my Modern Tiles Row Count to 5 but it seems to be "fixed" in Windows 8.1. Has anyone been able to get it working again?

Special Surface Offer for TechEd Attendees(RT for 99$ & Pro for 399$)

I will be attending and will pick up both. I will be selling the Surface Pro to help offset the cost of my current Pro. I'm planning to keep the SurfaceRT though.

    1600x900 better?

I have also noticed that the text are less sharp when I switch my resolution to 1600x900 even after I go through the ClearType calibration. I'm back at 1920x1080 with 125% zoom.
