    Surface Pro Type Cover

I don't think any settings will fix that, sounds like your Type Cover is defective. You should be able to get it replaced under warranty.

    2nd monitor via USB adapter

I've had good luck using a USB adapter from Plugable. http://plugable.com/products/usb-vga-165 Plugable also makes "docks", see here: http://plugable.com/2013/05/15/transform-your-surface-pro-into-a-full-desktop/comment-page-1

Linx Windows Tablet ? just curious!

Before I got my SP3, I had a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet. It had slightly better hardware (quad core Atom processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage) but otherwise similar. The DV8P ran Win 8.1 very well and even came with Office Home & Student. The 8" screen was fine, for the most part, but text on the...

Anyone able to create hotspot on Surface Pro 3?

I haven't tried it lately so don't know if it works with latest firmware updates. Since I can now create a hotspot on my phone, I don't have a need to use the SP3 for a hotspot. Good luck to those still wanting this to work. Hopefully, MS will update the Marvel driver to allow this functionality.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is the Gadget of the Year

I also use the keyboard less than I thought I would so I prefer being able to remove it when not needed. I have read of the problems others have encountered with their SP3's but I purchased mine on the first day they went on sale and it has been great for me. I guess I am just lucky that I got...

5 ways Windows RT is better than full Windows

So if your employer tells you you're only going to get 98% of your salary but will claim it gave you 100%, you'd be OK with that? ;)

    chromecast and surface 2

Sorry, I missed that the OP said he/she had a SP2. I have an SP3. However, I would expect the app to work the same on ether.

I have the AV Remote app (paid app from same people, $2.99). I use it to stream movies from my NAS to my Chromecast and it works well for that.

Why we’re about to get swamped with Surface ads this holiday season

You aren't immune from advertising simply because you download stuff you watch instead of watching it on TV due to "product placement". For instance, I was watching "NCIS" last night and they were using a SP3 as a video camera at an airport, propped up with it's kickstand so they could send...

    Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter Review

Willgill has the reason for the HDMI extension right, your explanation doesn't even make sense. Why wouldn't you just plug the long HDMI cable in directly and leave the short extension out? Besides, a USB extension cable is probably less expensive so it makes more sense to extend the USB than...

Headline reads "Microsoft can't catch a break, CNN election reporters using surfaces as iPad stands"

Link to story: http://www.theverge.com/2014/11/5/7160115/microsoft-surface-loses-on-election-night-as-cnn-commentators-use-it I wonder if they were using both the iPad and the Surface, switching back and forth? Maybe there was a particular app (or set of apps) that they were using on the iPad...

My thoughts as well. You could enable Hyper-V on your SP3 then create a VM running Win 7 or Win 8.

Read the comments for the app. All the comments say "This is a scam", "Not Words With Friends", "Do not buy". Not one positive comment. I think you're out your $1.99.

How to set up the Surface 3 pro with a Dock-- what they DON'T tell you

I didn't do anything special with my SP3, just plugged it into the dock and everything worked from the get go. External displays, charging, audio, etc... all worked as soon as I plugged the SP3 in. Not sure why others have needed to jump thru hoops.

    Type Cover Color Popularity

Black. Only color I would consider because (IMO) all of the other colors offered clash with the SP3. I even put a black brushed aluminum skin from stickerboy.net on mine so now my SP3 and it's type cover match.

I have a good excuse not to buy an SP3

I personally have to chuckle at statements like this. My first computer, an IBM PC with 256K of RAM, cost $2500 in 1984 (that was after my IBM employee discount!). $1200 for something as capable as the SP3 doesn't bother me so much. :) I see that ProOrNo is retired and may be be on a fixed...

Hot spot deals... I occasionally need a hotspot

I have Verizon and am grandfathered into an unlimited data plan so I also use my phone as a hotspot too. Unfortunately, Verizon doesn't offer an unlimited data plan anymore. Is your T-Mobile plan unlimited and is it available to sign up for now? When I look at the T-Mobile website their...
